Google Transit Coming Soon to LA

Planning your business and train rides in Los Angeles will soon get a lot more simpler with the Google Transit treatment. Two LA transit agencies – Metro and Metrolink – are working on getting their system info into the Google Transit system, and are currently in the testing phase. It is expected to be launched by summer.

Metro hasn’t revealed their roll out date, but have indicated that will be after Earth Day. Metrolink, on the other hand, is planning on an early May roll out.

While having this information will help commuters plan their bus and train trips, the fact remains that Google Transit in LA will only be truly successful if all of the city’s multiple transit agencies participate. OCTA and Burbank Bus are in the system already. The Big Blue Bus, Culver City Bus, and various other bus lines are not yet in Google Transit’s system.

After the Metro and Metrolink roll outs on Google Transit, next on the agenda is getting Amtrak info in there.
