Google Reader is now offering the ability to access and read the last 2,000 RSS stories in ones Google Reader account even when the user is offline. Using Google Gears, the most recent stories subscribed to via Google Reader will be saved and accessible on the train, the plane, between meetings, and whenever one cannot connect to the net.
Another step in the Google-ization of the desktop, Google Reader & Google Gears are delivering content to users even when those users are not plugged in. From Google:

Set up Google Reader for offline use. This feature enables you to read your 2000 most recent items even when your computer is not connected to the Internet.
To use the offline features of Google Reader, you will first need to install the Google Gears plug-in for your browser.

Hello,
I covered some details on this last week: http://mungobah.blogspot.com/2007/05/google-gears-google-reader-offline-and.html and what I am MOST looking forward to is when they integrate (if?) this into Gmail… now that would be AMAZING!

Have tried Gears so I could read my Google Reader items on the train. It is great for viewing feeds offline and have found very useful.
But when I try to resynch and go back online, it freezes on me at 50% every time. Anybody else had that problem?
