I thought there was something wrong with my PC’s setting or something, or Firefox maybe experiencing some problem or my Internet connection has been attacked. But never did I thought that Google Search maybe down or something. At least for the past couple of years that I’ve been using it almost every moment when I’m online. I never encountered this kind of problem with Google Search.
It’s been like this for 10 minutes or so now. When you do a search, you’ll immediately notice something different from the search results page. A statement that says – “this site may harm your computer. And when you click on any of the search results it even gets worsts. You’ll land on a page the following page.

Update: Ops, Google is back. The warning message is gone now.
Incidentally, the last something like this happened was way back in 2005. Well, at least according to Google SERPs for the keywords – “Google is Down”.
Update: Google’s Marissa Mayer said the glitch was caused by human error. The warning should have been flagged for one site only but erroneously expanded to all sites indexed by Google. Here’s the official Google explanation.

Google is now back – and about time!
Brendon.
Thanks for the confirmation and heads-up on this.
This incident shows us why combining a general search engine with filtering does not work.
At Surf Knight, our approach has been to build a search engine for kids that starts with a “clean index” to begin with. All the indexed pages were monitored by a combination of automated scripts and manual approval procedures. We have our own web browser too, which can verify sites through our web service.

Noticed the same thing. First thought it was just my computer – but checked with a friend and realized that Google is down and the world wide web’s going to end ..
Well. I’ve had this happen to me a few times not just yesterday, but over the last week or so. Not all sites though – a very small number.

Got same thing today, thought it was faulty Firefox plugins. Tried Safari, Chrome – the same sh*t happened. Pity, I hadn’t my own screen shots.
But beforehand I noticed another thing, which I call a ‘Google Paranoia’ symptom and which DOES seem to be consistent. For example, consider this Google’s message:
http://tinyurl.com/d39fm6
Just in case of incorrect redirect, it says ’403 Error, We’re sorry… … but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application’. And the query was quite modest and non-sophisticated:

BTW, I’m just curious, what shown up in observations of the same matter for other users?
Interesting…
Yes I experienced the same thing for about 45 minutes in total. It appears that they had a major bug in the update, and did a role back.
We will probably never really know the real reason behind what happened. Even giants hiccup sometimes.
True, I experienced the same thing before. I thought there’s any virus in that website.
I use Mac OX 10.5.4 The other day Firefox did a routine ‘update’. Now my regular Google search page does not work. The URL in address box changes and indicates a search, but the page does not change. Just shows “Done” at bottom in status bar.
