Google has now taken an extra step in cross integrating its search functions within itself. Now when a user searches for certain terms on Google Image Search, images from current news stories are shown in a gray box at the top of the screen. Google will serve a thumbnail image along with a news headline accompanied with a link to the related news story. Google also further plugs Google News it its image search with a direct link after the News Images.
As of publication time, searches for Google and Kerry return news images and stories, while searches for Michael Jackson and John Kerry do not. The main difference may be the use of last names in news headlines and opposed to full names. Surely Google will iron this out over time.
