Auctions for radio spectrums like this literally only come along once in a lifetime- remember, the airwaves are a finite resource. Google's disclosure that they're willing to bid $4.6bil is akin to telling someone what you're going to throw before you begin a rock, paper, scissors match. Do you believe them or not? Either way, you're on the defensive and now more concerned about trying to figure out what the other guy is up to.
