Google Builds Up Corporate Email Security Product

While Microsoft is busy courting Yahoo to accept its buyout proposal, Google is silently building up its corporate email security product. Through the email security technology of its recently acquired Postini, Google seemed to be enhancing its business application infrastructure, a market that Microsoft has dominated with its office suite products.

Through Postini, Google is launching new business products that are designed to weed out junk mail and potential viruses while protecting against leaks of confidential information via e-mail. Spam and private information phishing are the major setbacks of most email application suites.

The new business products which are priced from $3 to $25 per user, are said to be compatible with Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and Novell Groupwise.

Google says that there already hundreds of thousands of businesses, government agencies and schools that are using its business software application, including users of Google’s less sophisticated free programs.

Relating this to the current buzz about the possible Yahoo-Microsoft merger, Google may very well prepare in other avenues where it would be facing tough competition. And an office application suite is one of them.
