Google Auctions to Rival eBay and Yahoo?

Google Auctions to Rival eBay and Yahoo?

Google is reportedly sending 600 workers in engineering and support to a new location in the Phoenix area which is the center of a new Google complex in Arizona. The site has not been established yet, but Google announced their plans on Arizona expansion at an event hosted at the State Capitol yesterday.

BizJournals reports that unnamed sources say that Google is planning a mega auction center in the new Arizona location in a bid to launch Google Auctions, in direct competition with Yahoo, MSN, and of course, eBay.

Aaron Wall of the SEOBook wonders how such an auction service from Google would effect its advertising model, Google AdWords, which includes mega advertising campaigns from eBay and eBay resellers. Will those sellers be advertising on AdWords in the future for Google Auctions listings and reimbursing Google a higher percentage of the item sale instead of paying the Google AdWords pay-per-click price?

From Aaron : “You have to wonder how this will effect eBay AdWords bidding strategies if a rivalry between them heats up. eBay is one of the most frequently searched terms, and eBay has one of the largest AdWords spends.”

Why do some people still think Google will start an auction website? If it ever happened the same people will turn on Google the minute they start making changes.

I've said it before, why would they want to pour all of that money in a hole and create even more headaches.
  • honestgrader
PLEASE Google start up an auction site to rival eBay. eBay NEEDS competition as their customer service sucks butt. They have pissed off almost all private independent small sellers. They only want the big box companies.

Well, if that's all they want then they need to remember that sellers are buyers too and I refuse to do any buying on eBay until their policies change. Without sellers and buyers eBay will have nothing!

There is a new site where you can list for free and it has a little different take on the bidding procedure. you can sell stuff easy. the site is xbart.com
  • braden
I wish you all the best. let's get rid of ebay, i mean FEEbay. THESE SUCK AND LET'S SHOW THEM THAT THEY AIN'T WORTH A PENNY. Please publish as soon as possible.

    WISH YOU LUCK

lol, and has anyone noticed eBay's latest move? They have made all bids PRIVATE, that basically means that people have free-license to SHILL on listings with impunity.

eBay absolutely LOVE shillers as it increases their already huge profits.

And when you consider that eBay's system is "aware" of everyone's maximum bids, I would not put it past eBay to have their own little army of shilling accounts. Hiking up prices to the maximum with fake eBay created accounts and now they have made all bids PRIVATE they can get away with it completely. Oh, they are quite discusting.

PLEASE Google, step into this arena and offer us an honest alternative to sell our items!
  • John
PLEASE Google...PLEASE hurry and open up an auction site. I promise you, just about *ALL* sellers are sick to death of eBay's extortionate price hikes. If you open a service, and charge REASONABLE fees for your effort...80% of current eBay sellers will flock to you in a heart beat! And where the sellers go, the buyers will follow.

You can beat ePay and the are MANY people just itching to help Google succeed on this! eBay have a bad reputation and nothing will ever fix that, we only tolerate them because there is no realistic alternative.

lets just hope that google start up there auctions site soon, as this post dates back to 2005 and now its 2009.

Ebay need the competion and only a company like google can do that, i buyers and sellers whould use the google auctions service, ebay seems to have things all there own way, how on earth there allowed or think its correct to charge a total of 10% of a items sale price is just like robbery, google needs to come along and half the listing and sales fees, and rework there google checkout sytem into something similar to paypal, then its goodbye paypal and ebay from alot of sellers i whould think, then all the buyers will mobve onto the service
  • john
    goodbye and goodriddens ebay!!!

Ebay just took down EVERY one of my listings! I used the word feedback in the title and they pulled all listings and suspended my account for 30 days...No warning, no prior notice...nothing! If they value the people that WORK HARD to sell and make it so there is stuff on there, you'd think they'd at least warn you...but nope...nadda! THEY should be checked due to possible anti-trust violations with making people use only paypal to pay......I had 100% positive feedback...NEVER a negative, 5.0 DSR ratings and this is my 'thanks' from them>>>OUTTA HERE BUDDY...Scram, get lost...we don't care about you one tiny bit...Fine...I'm out for 30 days buy there's and old saying I just Love...What goes around ,comes around...I can't wait till the day when they have real competetion and they all meet their maker and get to answer for their arrogance and the way they treated people... He who laughs last, laughs best! :)

IF ANYONE READS THIS AND KNOWS OF ANOTHER VIABLE OPTION TO EBAY, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I SELL ON EBAY AS FTLAUDBOB.
  • BOB LASSITER
EBAY'S BIASED AND PROBABLY ILLEGAL POLICIES ARE DRIVING SELLERS AND POTENTIAL BUYERS AWAY AT AN ALARMING RATE. I HAVE BEEN WITH EBAY FOR OVER EIGHT YEARS AND I CAN TELL YOU FIRST HAND THAT EBAY IS INEPT, THEY OFFER NO PROTECTION AGAINST CROOKS AND THEIR FEES ARE RIDICULOUS. SELLERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR UNSCRUPULOUS BUYERS AND SO CROOKS GET AWAY WITH THEIR CRIMES AND OTHER SELLERS CANNOT BE FOREWARNED. NOW EBAY IS FORCING BOTH SELLERS AND BUYERS TO USE PAYPAL (WHICH EBAY OWNS) SO THAT THEY CAN COLLECT EVEN MORE FEES. THIS POLICY IS DRIVING AWAY POTENTIAL BUYERS AND IS CAUSING SELLERS TO LEAVE AT AN ALARMING RATE. IDIOTS !!!!! I WOULD SWITCH TO ANOTHER VIABLE AUCTION SITE IN A HEART BEAT. IF IT IS TRUE THAT EBAY OWNS GOOGLE, THEN WHY IS THIS ADVERTISEMENT EVEN BEING PRESENTED? I JUST WANT TO SEE EBAY GO DOWN THE TUBES BECAUSE IT IS OPERATED BY CROOKS AND THIEVES AND YES BLATANT LIARS!! AT ANY RATE, IT FEELS GOOD TO VENT ON THIS SPACE AND TO WARN PEOPLE ABOUT EBAY.
  • ROBET
GOOGLE, WILL NEVER OPEN A NEW AUCTION SITE...EBAY HAS BOUGHT OFF GOOGLE....THIS QUESTION FOR US ASKING GOOGLE WHEN, IS A TOTAL LIE.......GOOGLE WILL NEVER GO ON LINE WITH ANY AUCTION SITE.....LIKE I SAID EBAY HAS GOOGLE SOED UP....SO STOP WASTING YOUR TIME....IT WON'T HAPPEN..TOO BAD
FOR US ALL...WE NEED ANOTHER AUCTION..EBID HAS A LONG WAY TO GO, SO DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH IT...YOU WON'T MAKE ANY MONEY...SO MUCH FOR THAT....
  • ron
ebid.net on line auction site is here, stop waiting for site that are not existing and make the move with something real like ebid.net, if ever in the future, some new on line auction site goes on, then you should thing about it and make a decision, but for me the future is now and now this is ebid.net

    ~one pissed off FEEBAYER
  • So there are many so called alternatives out there and most are setup by internet newbies who end up with a glitsy looking Auction website but no one selling.

It is going to take a massive company to take on ebay. A company that is already an Internet and communications giant.

You would never have guessed British Telecom are Investing in such an alternative. Offering Anyone around the World an Alternative Marketplace To sell on.

I know that most people reading this are doing so because ebay have made them angry and seek an alternative.

Maybe this will be the one that knocks ebay of their High Horse and makes them think again about how they treat people..
  • Brian Smith
Ebay's recent policy change that only give buyers the option to leave negative feedback is a COMPLETE disaster. 1 of every 6 or 7 items I sell doesn't get paid for, and I'm constantly dealing with buyers that try to extort money out of me with threats of leaving negative feedback.

Ebay was bad enough BEFORE they made this move, now it's laughable to try to do business through them.

Google, if you have any plans to compete with ebay, the time is N-O-W!!!
  • Casey
I recently posted this on eBay. I hope Google can use some of these ideas to kick their ass ...

I have been away from eBay for awhile and am shocked at how disreputable it has become. I am a long time member, and every year it has gotten worse and worse. It seems almost obvious that eBay PURPOSEFULLY TOLERATES SCAMMERS on the site to increase their revenue. Maybe this is obvious to all of you, but I just wanted to post my thoughts on what an HONEST WEBSITE SHOULD DO.

    1) Sellers that have 0 or negative rating should be flagged with a RED BORDER around the action. Yeah this might suck for some new members, but warn the other 99.9% of users.

    2) Like 1, sellers who's accounts are less than 30-90 days old should also have a RED BORDER or similar indication to tell buyers to watch out.

    3) Buying feedback for a seller should not even be displayed or counted for a sellers auction. I don't care how much stuff the seller bought, that doesn't mean they are at all honest.

    4) If ebay really cared about improving the buying experience, why can't I filter out buyers based on account age or feedback rating. Should I really have to manually go through all this for every search I do. No!

    5) Finally, the TRANSACTION PROCESS SHOULD BE MODIFIED FOR ALL SELLERS WITH LOW RATINGS. Specifically, why not first have a seller to PROVE they have goods if they have a low rating before telling the buyer to send the payment. Yes, a buyer could ask for such proof right now (picture of item and winner's username), but I'm sure many HONEST buyers don't think of this until its too late. And if scammers knew this was the standard case, then they might not bother to scam people in the first place.

Ok, so those are my thoughts. Please tell my why I am wrong, and why ebay really is the BEST place to sell online. If not, why hasn't eBay implemented these features. It doesn't take an Internet genius to figure this stuff out. Ultimately, their INaction tells me enough. They DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR BUYERS OR SELLERS, just transaction counts and clicks. Typical corporation that merely gets by because there is no competition. FFS, I sure hope Google sets up an auction site soon. I am sure they could think of 10x more ideas to make it better for everyone.

Unless I am corrected, this is probably the last time I'll be on eBay for some time. Its pretty sad the execs are running this site into the ground.

    g'night and good luck.
  • Ebay sucks and will continue to do so as long as they continue to raise fee. Its a shame that they took somthing so good and turned it into crap.
  • lynn nelms
I hate ebay ebay is the one who closed yahoo auction down and bought them out,I have made ebay thousand and pay pal and they treat me like shit,e bay will always buy out the compition, I cant beleive that the goverment dont do something about e bay they are nothing but theves, but I have no outher choice but to keep dealing with them, and e bay knows it,because they keep buying out there compition and closing them down, so if anybody knows of anouther auction site that has at half the traffic as e bay please let me know
  • GARY
CANT WAIT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, YOU HAVE MY BUSINESS 100%
  • Absolutely Awesome
This is awesome, ebay is about the biggest ripoff next to high gas prices. We have a perfect feedback rating until a stupid customer ( who is always right) leaves 1 negative feedback. What does ebay do about this, hmmm they steal about 1,000 dollars from us for their ripoff fees and block our user registration. Ebay is a joke and you don't make any profit at all. If you want a real site try amazon.

Obviously Google would do great, but dan is right. For them to create an auction would not make much sense due to their main business. However, I have a question. There are many auction sites out there, why does everyone have to use ebay? For example Steve listed an auction site ( didnt have anything in it), but if everyone began listing their items on a different site wouldnt others follow suit and use that site? I'm not very active in auctions, but I am dying to know why????
  • Lorraine
I should of mentioned in my message that my £1000 is not a monthly spend....lol (I wish)
I have been with Paypal since 2005 so it's a figure from joining them.
  • Lorraine
Come on Google what's happened to the Google Auctions, you have thousands of people fed up with Ebay and Paypal waiting to go with Google yet nothing is happening.
Also put a stop to eBay showing on Google searches after all eBayers are not allowed to use Google payments.
We are fed up with them dictating to us and overcharging for the privilige of selling through them.
Now my Paypal account won't let me buy anymore because I have reached a £1000 limit unless I furnish them with my bank details. And that will never happen and I don't even take payments in I just buy but they now are dictating how much I can spend on my credit card over a period of time. So they have lost my custom and I hope everyone else follows suit.
So come on Google get your finger out and take Ebay and Paypal out of the equation.
  • dan
not gonna happen. they'd be competing with their own customers(everone that advertises with google) and hurting their core business if they launched an auction site.
  • Terri
I can honestly say that I have seen ebay make some very big and (BAD) descisions lately and there are alot of people out there who could use a place like Google Auctions to list their items. I for one would leave ebay in a heart beat if google had an auction site. I am a single mom who is also disabled and make a living selling on ebay but they have made it so hard on me that I may have to shut down my store. I have sat and cried all day today because of what I heard they were doing to alot of us today. All of us who are graphic designers who build auction templates, digital photos, banners, logos, storefront etc... will be out of business come March 31st and ebay has not even sent out an e-mail about this yet. But the listing process has changed. They give us less than a week to figure out what we are going to do before our auctions are ended on March 31st. I have surgery this week and will not even be able to work my computer for a coupld of weeks and I wake up to all of this, just this morning. I have cried until I can't cry anymore. I must wipe away my tears so when my 6 yr old gets off the bus in a little bit she won't be upset too!!! I don't know how I am going to pay my insurance, truck payment, etc now.... PLEASE GOOGLE... open this auction site already. It has been almost 3 years since this was announced. I know you are not afraid of Ebay!!!!! I want to be one of the first people to sign up for Google Auctions!!!!
  • Patrick
Hello, second time contributer here. I've been reading the comments pretty regularly and have to say, with dismay, that I was wondering when the sniping would begin. I was under the impression that this forum was about Google's potential auction site, and what could be done to convince the folks at Google to get the lead out and get the site up and working. With respect to some of the other, more vocal (lately) members, could we get back on topic? It seems to me that only by working together, as a team, will we be able to convince the folks at Google that there is a large and united group that would very much like to see an auction site with the clout to be able to compete with E-bay, and that would do whatever we can to help Google in whatever way we can to get it's site up and running.

    Thank You
  • Jim
Oh just to stop any confusion and give poor little stevie any more mud to try and sling, Yes I am also known as paddy!
  • Steve my friend, I have a quite a large number of customers and page rank means nothing to me as they visit my site and order supplies regularly! Page rank? You pretend you know what you are talking about but you make yourself look foolish!! My website itself is only a few months but has a very satisfactory ROI Thank you! Page Rank!! ahahaha you make me laugh with your Jibberish as even though my site is just a few months old, it still arrives within the first page of matches on google when a customer searches with relevant keywords. Steve, You are clueless and your comments about bank balance and your ridiculous comment about helping me with page rank show just how ignorant you are! The fact is, I do not post my link here to try and get visitors. Also I would not require the web promotion skills of a spammer. No thank you Steve, I do not require any help from you as it is clear that if you were to help, My site URL would be posted inappropriately just like yours is being.
Further, the reason my site appears when my name is clicked is because where it asks you to leave a comment, it also asks for your website address!

If you were such an expert at page rank, search placement and web promotion, you would understand why I have called you a spammer and would bow your head in shame!

You are what is known in the UK as a Pillock!
  • Steve
savejim I agree with you, it is funny how he shoots everyone down but at the same time clicking on his name brings you to his site and the funniest thing about it is his site don't even have a google page rank ... maybe 2 links back to it. At least I mention a site with merit ... soory jim but putting me down isn't going to do you any good ... and yes it is true ebay and all businesses start out with nobody ... the only way to get customers is to get the word out ... so I see no harm in posting a link about a site you think will benefit others ... jim you need to spend more time getting some page rank than worrying about this thread ... you have alot of work to do to even get a page rank of 1 ... maybe I can help ... how is your bank account latley??
  • nomoreebay
There are a few good auctionsites that people can expound on. We all just need to start using them. One good auction site is called www.hibidder.com
Another good commerce Ad site, www.blujay.com
Sites like these are just how ebay started, but these people are real, not just a hype setup like ebay.
I have suggested two categories for one of these sites and it was added immediatly, with a "Thank you", When was the last time ebay has done that!!!.
Just try the other sites out there, theres a huge marketplace out there waiting for you. That is what is going to knock ebay down, All the options out there at our virtual variety web.
Check this site out below(paste&copy). It shows a few of the auction and commerce places out there. And at the same time you can watch ebays stocks drop as all of you register for your choice.

Jim, go back to your unrealistic, narrowminded, own little world. Gee, Thats funny you shoot everything down about this site, but yet, you continue to arrive here and disregard everyones ideals but your own, might be only by curiousity, (no,Idoubt it)but total selfish reasons.(thats more like it). Click on his name everybody, It goes straight to his own webpage mentality. Jim!!!, When you wake up or grow up, either one,or probably both, thats when you are allowed out of your playpen to play respectfully. Its amazing how many adults still need preschool instruction!!!!!.
Oh, by the way, ebay started out like all the rest of the businesses out there, DUH!!.
  • Hi all, Have read some really interesting views on ebay and noted that not many people who have posted here are really happy with ebay! I also realize that most of you still use ebay because there just is no Viable alternative!
I would imagine that most of you have heard already that ebay are about to change the rules on sellers leaving negative feedback for buyers? This means that a buyer will have the upper hand always especially those dishonest ones who make like an item has not been received and then complain to paypal amongst other things! Buyers being able to hold sellers to ransom! ebay needs to remember exactly who their customers are, the people who pay the money to them! ARE ebay a Bunch or Morons?
We already know that PayPal are but it would also seem that instead of ebay making paypal better, Paypal are actually making ebay worse!

If you disagree with these feedback policy changes, please sign this petition I found at
    http://www.powersellersuk.com/fbp

It may not make a difference because it is clear ebay do not care about what their customers want but will at least show ebay that they are losing customer loyalty from thier Sellers and Powersellers, those who spend a load of money each month, Not because they want too but because they have no other option.

Saw a TV Doc last night about the Counterfeit trade sweeping the world out of China. and with ebay claiming something like 70, 80 or even 90% of all internet shopping sales, who will be Blamed for encouraging sellers to buy and sell these goods??? maybe ebays final downfall. After all, every Jumped up Dictator will fall sooner or later!

This is one for you to look at and make you laugh http://web.archive.org/web/19970614001443/http:...
thats when they first started, must have been when they just learned how to do HTML pages... So they started as a company with crappy web designers and a website that my 6 year old son could have built, only better, They Got lucky and now think they are a Super Power!

Google Please give them them wake up call. You can make money from auctions and advertise Adwords Galore because there will be millions of new users within the first week! If you advertised on TV in USA, UK and others, You would cause ebay to collapse within days I rekon! So many people hate ebay now because of their attitude being they are untouchable! Google shares will double in price over night, You should not show any loyalty to ebay, they banned Google checkout because they are so scared it will kick PayPal out of the top spot, Then they give blag like Google checkut is not secure!! GOOGLE Please, if that was me, it would be a decleration of WAR and with your massive arsenal, you would anylate them the world already loves Google and your public needs you!! take ebay to the cleaners because only you have the power! ebay show adwords on their site but hey, you could show them same adwords on your own auction site and save millions!! Ebay make a mint out of sellers fees and just as much from serving google ads!
You do a deal with ebay and all they do is backstab and ban Google Checkout! WAR I SAY!
  • Roo
Can't believe this debate has been around for so long!
I for one would be quite happy to 'jump ship' when google auctions launches. Though how long do we have to wait?
I've set up a debate and few polls about the subject here - http://www.squidoo.com/google_auctions-vs-ebay
  • Jim
At it again i see. Look this www. onlineauctionexchange. com has less than 100 active listings so what does that tell you? So you expect us to bieleve that you will sell anything on that site? SORRY it is clear you are simply spamming this sidcussion and i would not join that site simply because of that fact alone.
  • Steve
I hope google opens up an auction site myself .. but I think they are more into the search and adwords than anything else ... I don't think they will want to deal with all the bull. For now I will continue to use http://www.onlineauctionexchange.com don't cost me a dime to list my auctions.
  • I'VE BEEN SELING ON EBAY SINCE 2000 ADVANTAGE-SALES IS MY ID, THE FEES ARE OUTRAGEOUS I SPEND ABOUT 5-8 THOUSAND A MONTH, THE MONEY IS BEING MADE BUT THE NEW PAYPAL RULE AND THE FEEDBACK STRUCTURE HAS REALLY MADE ME LOOK ELSEWHERE, I HAV ECREATED ACCOUNTS WITH ECRATER AND ONLINEAUCTION.COM , I AM DESPERATELY WAITING FOR GOOGLE AUCTIONS, I THINK THEY WILL BE EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE OF THEIR TRAFFIC. AND EBAY IS ABOUT TO LOSE MANY SELLERS WHICH ARE LOOKING FOR AVENUES TO SELL AND MONEY TO SPEND DOING IT. VIVA GOOGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Jim
I disagree, there is no value in the comments at all. All he is saying is he has stopped using ebay and is plugging a differen auction site.
SORRY, I thought this was a discussion about google openeing a auction site and not a place for blaggers to promote their own auction websites that will never be anything other than a pipe dream!!

The site he posted the link to has just 67 Active listings in total so it is hardly valuable nor is 3 years old. When i went to the site, it was in the middle of being setup the php script was being installed. SOME ON!! GET REAL

If you consider the following not to be an ad or indeed webmasters own hype, then you are hardly qualified to be an editor of such a discussion, the post is clearly spam and has been submitted purely to attract visitors.

  • This post is not just an ad, it's 3 years old and vibrant discussion from eBay and other users about Google opening auctions.

The value is in the comments :)

Actually I do not own the site, I wish I did. It seems the link isn't working cause I typed it incorrectly. It should just be http://www.onlineauctionexchange.com what is the big deal with posting information about a good resource? Wasn't that what the Internet was intended for?

Ahahaha you joker, you posted the ad about your www. onlineauctionexchange .com. website an you havent even finished installing the script.

well it seems to me that your post is nothing but an ad, i would in fact hazard a guess you are the owner of the website, To be honest, nothing is going to rival ebay unless it is setup by someone who has access to more traffic than them namely google.

    I got a S&H quote before bidding, &won.
The seller then almost doubled the S&H fee, so I did not pay, & contacted ebay resoloution.
To my amazment, ebay sided with the seller! With copies of emails showing her thievery sent to them!
When the heck is Google going to move on this?
  • Over 6 years with ebay, it’s time to move on elsewhere. I would be very happy to see ebay go down the drain because they don’t deserve the success the community helped them achieve. Thanks Google, please hurry and make it happen as we are all waiting anxiously. I have already added google checkout to my website and will get rid of paypal as well. Google all the way.

    Google,

I left ebay in august of 2007, after doing the math we made very little profit so we made up are minds to close the store and stop selling till we moved else where or just stop on line sales altogether. what blows you away is looking at the fees; bottom line ebay is making up to 10% of your profit if not more and this is not including paypal fees!.......We need a new site and I think and hope Google will save the online auction business, if not I guess its goodbye to all of it, it was good when it stared, now I'll just be one of those people who will drive to the local malls and do my shopping, and sell at the local flea market just like we did in the 1990's before ebay. Hey we made good $$$ back in those days but abit more labor and I still have friends doing it!......Google please listen to the people......we need a new marketplace I will be there to open my accounts I love working from my home. good day to all of you at google if you need any help from me you can email me at: pacman@ameritech.net

    Thank You

Please get GOOGLE auctions up & running before I die!

I already have GOOGLE check-out & plan to get away from Paypal ASAP!

I kicked Ebay to the curb. All 8 of my buying & selling ID's are dead & stinking in the water.

    I'll never go back!

I want to stick with 1 venue, all the way! And GOOGLE would be my "it"
I would list & sell VICTORIOUSLY

I'm hanging in there, in hopes that this latest Ebay meltdown, will prompt GOOGLE to get this going.

    What say you?
  • I hope Google will launch an auction platform ASAP. I no longer sell on eBay because their fees killed my profit margin. They are so prideful and rude as well. I shop on Amazon as much as possible instead of eBay.
  • With these new changes coming up I'm done with eBay! Protest by signing the petition here!
    http://www.petitiononline.com/ebayfee/petition....
  • Tim Colt
Hopefully ,this will at least create competition!the no feedback thing and 21day paypal turn around are outrageous !
  • LOUIS
I hope Google come out with their own auction site. There is only room for one leader. Ebay is the king now. When google opens an auction site I am gone from ebay. I have sold 40,000 items since I started in 98. Ebay has gone too far this time. OFF WITH THERE HEADS
  • http://www.google.com/support/contact/bin/reque...

I know this is an old site but we all found it - the above link is for google feedback - I wrote to them. Maybe if more people do they'll listen.
  • After over 9 years of selling on ebay, I closed my shop on ebay - they stink. We are like their slaves - It's like they had us brainwashed and we all just woke up with a jolt by this last onslaught of no feedback rights, higher fees, our store listings not even showing up on searches.

Pleeeeease Google - open an auction site, and show them how to do it right. And please do it soon. Maybe you can have that service where we can grab our feedback from ebay and bring it over.

I'm sure that everyone on PowerSellersUnite.com will move there - and many other ebay sellers as well. You open it, we'll come and we'll get the word out!

ebay would not immediately be put out of business if google launched auctions because ebay has die hard fans. So does PayPal. PayPal thats got to be one of the biggest jokes on the face of the earth. They claim to be ideal for business sellers yet, they are a threat to all small and medium sized business's Asset security. So your running along quite nicely, putting thousands into ebays pocket and out of the blue with no warning they limit your account and make some stupid excuse for doing so.. The latest is Anti money laundering laws. They then ask you for ID, proof of inventory and anything else that will cause you an already busy person to go out of your way to provide. Account remains limited for at least 7 days and in the meantime, those 50 buyers who wanted to pay using paypal have got suspicious about why your paypal account is not accepting money. They then cancel their order and you just lost trust and revenue. PayPal WHAT A F''in JOKE.

I am a powerseller and ebay kiss my ass when I call them on the phone yet paypal speak to me like I am some kind of desperate sucker who lives to be a customer of theirs.. Thats right, they think they are doing you a favour allowing you to be their customer! PayPal will eat itself and they will drag ebay down with them. there are millions of people who have had it with paypal and ebays attitude and the only reaso they continue to use their services is because they have no other choice SO GOOGLE, thats your market! Also offer a great affiliate program like ebay do on Commission Junction. be over generous and you will teach ebay not to take their customers for granted
  • tony
give me an alternative, any alternative to those shitbags at ebay and i will take it. every change is a change for the worse, and they are either blind, stupid or both. i want to sell stuff i dont need and buy stuff that i want. it is that easy, but ebay keeps screwing that up. google auctions... what is taking so long. this is the next step for you...
  • exEbayer
I looked for Google auction and this blog came up.. what happened.. is it in the works? was it a "give up"
I did see ebid and wagglepop but not much listed.
would do good for someone to come in now .. Ebay is an uproar of misery .. they are so stoopid to keep letting people down and raising prices. I dont know how people can stay with all the stress of it,. Comeon Google get up & runnin
  • An ole' Ebay'or
Well this is one OLD article! Yet, as relevant today as ever!

Some recent commentere have clearly not paid attention to the date in the heat of their rage at yet another F-Ebay screw-the-seller initiative!
I don't blame them. We need to make some noise!

Google auctions would instantly become Ebay competitor on a major scale. Competition will be good for Ebay. There is certaily room for more than one company in that business. Ebay would not dare to alienate their sellers the way they do now. Feebay knows they really have nowhere else to go.. yet!

Give Us Google Auctions! If I only had the money myself... Come on, someone with money, here is a chance to make millions.
  • Chris
This link shall NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER die until GOOGLE AUCTIONS becomes a reality!

Hello from a 10 year ebay seller & Artist. Like the majority of ebay Artists, I am so tired of ebays constant increases. We, artists, need to make enough money to keep ourselves fed, dry, warm, and have enough left over to buy supplies. In the beginning, ebay was a great new venue to sell. However, their new policy of not letting Sellers leave neutral or negative feedback for buyers is HORRIBLE. We have no recourse for a buyer who leaves us sellers with negative feedback. When did ebay decide to give the buyer all the power??
Please, give Us a safe, pleasant place to sell our Art - ASAP, without making us choose between food and supplies.
I'll be with you the minute you open & so will thousands if not Millions of us!!!
  • Don
    Hi Y'all,
I'm retired and sell on ebay to augment my SS. If I list 10 items and am very lucky, 5 will sell. The listing fees plus photo fees plus 10 day fee plus final value fee plus paypal fee plus gas to the post office etc makes for a sour stomach and an altogether bad experience. Now add to that the removal of the allowance of feedback to the buyer, which by the way, is a primary deterant for not receiving illegitimate neg buyer feedbacks, makes for a very slanted field. That feedback is one thing that helps keep the playing field level. Otherwise how would I get a hint of a buyer's profile.

Bottom line is: I would switch to google in an instant. I just hope they don't pickup any of the ebay personel.
  • Bernie Delien
I am SO GLAD there will be an online auction site to compete with Ebay !! They have had a monopoly too long !!
    1. Fees are out of hand
    2. They also own the payment company for themselves (Paypal)
    3. The policies are out of a fairy tale book.
    4. Why is it that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback for buyers ?? Where is the sense in that ?? How will sellers find out about fraudulent bidders if there is no negative feedback available ?? (Once again - fairy tales)
  • Allen Lee
With the recent changes to eBay's policies and all the disgruntled sellers I think it would be great time for Google to launch a rival auction service. The sellers could switch first and sell to each other until the buyers figured out where they went and joined them.
  • pants!
Whats happening about a google auction site?
    Is it happening or not????
I have tried ebid & qxl amongst others and received a great big nothing! Its a massive shame so PLEASE try to use them - it costs NOTHING to list and you pay only if the items sell!!!!!

Ebay - you should hang your head in shame that so many people are miffed at your ridiculous fees, unhelpful (if you get hold of them) customer services department, and a wholly unreasonable and unenforceable feedback system which favours only the illegitimate traders and dodgy buyers!!!

Come on Google, do us all a favour and introduce some healthy competition to the auction market. Its not good for the consumer to have a single dominent supplier (who really does not give two hoots about those who paid for its development!!!).
  • kevin
Go Google! We need an alternative to eBay!
  • ebay sucks
ebay needs the competition. for too long it has had a monopoly all to itself. why doesn't anyone launch anti-trust action against it and its far too cosy relationship with paypal?
  • H2onsnow
Correction in the previous thread it is

    www.ebid.net.
    Sorry!!!
  • H2onsnow
If google does not want to be a part of this type of business, Pick another site. Try :

    www.ebid.com.

Lets help them build it into an ebay competetor. Lets build ebid and let google see what they are missing. There are other options out there, all it takes is word of mouth, Tell everyone about "ebid", and it will be your next option to shutting down your "BOE Auction site" or at least humbling the tyrant!!! Try it, I joinned, I am not an affiliate nor have I been paid to post this. Its an option for all of us, Lets use it.
  • Mike
Once again guys. Apparently Google does not want the headache of having an online auction site.

This information at the beginning of this thread is bogus.
This thread is over 2 years old.
There, maybe this will wakeup the Google cheerleaders.
  • Patrick
I look foreward to a viable online auction alternative to E-bay. Unfortunatly, the latest information I am able to find on Google's potential auction site is from 2005. Are there any updates on the progress of the auction site? I am looking foreward to closing my E-bay account, or, at least, severly reducing my E-bay activities and selling coins on Google's Auction site when it comes up. Thank You
  • P. Moore
I'd eat a bug to have the name of the person incharge of setting up Google's new auction site, so i could give them a quick 'tutorial' on what's needed to put the Ebay kiddies out of work!!

As one of Ebay's odest (9/98) I'm fed up with being charged for some idiot's decision to click and buy something he has NO intention of paying for. Why should anyone have to pay a penny to Ebay for a Non-Paying bidder's stupidity, when it was Ebay's own 'member' who caused the problem?

In addition to these problems, Ebay's so-called "feedback" system is about as fair as hanging a man for jaywalking.

Get it ON Google - put a REAL auction up on the Net, so our REAL bids will show and put an end to Ebay's stupid "proxie" crap. Meg Whitman & Company wouldn't know a REAL auction if it smacked her right in the face!!

I sure wish someone at Google would rattle my cage and get some ideas for their new site!!
  • I done business with Ebay and Paypal and both companies suck badly. I truly hope google auction kicks Ebay to the curb where they belong. I just hope Google Auction doesn't get a big head too and start treating people like garbage as Ebay has. What comes around goes around. I made an auction that is free for everyone to post their items. It's not google and it's not ebay but at least it's better than being stuck with Ebay and nothing else for now. Check it out if you want. I don't charge anything for listings. www.goshopnchat.com I truly hope Google makes it because they have the money to advertise unlike me. Us hard working little guys do try our best. Thanks David Ogden
  • Dave
With all these disgruntled people, i am surprised ebay have survived for so long. Just take closer look at their ripp off fees and you will see exactly what they are.Same for paypal.
Both ripp off artists and arrogant with it.
    ROLL OUT GOOGLE AUCTION NOW
Cant wait to see ebay go down.for now we have no choice.
  • cobis
I hope someone can do something to beat ebay, I hate ebay. They ruined my business ....
  • steve
Google is the savior of online auctions. All the other auction sites are incomplete and hard to use. The only real option right now is the devil ebay. No customer service to speak of, nobody who works for them knows anything.... I look forward to google auctions and will likely be one of there first customers:)
  • Please GOOGLE come soon, take business off EBAY, they dont care about anything, just to make themselves MILLONS AND MILLONS, start with no starting fees and keep that way, charge only fees if the items sells, that for itself will make many of ebay sellers like me, get into GOOGLE in minutes, EBAY needs to know, their customer service sucks, they need to loose millons daily to UNDERSTAND, take out of business EBAY NOW!
  • Sharon Scott
I can hardly wait to get started with it.

Ebay deserves whatever it gets :)
  • Douglas H.
It's high time for a change, ebay needs some competition. Come on Google!!

Want to say I am all for Google Auction as want to crush that terrible ebay and what they did to Google about there payment services by removing all there ads. The hell with ebay as I will work for google for free to help them suceed. I am a PowerSeller that recently got retstricted because of 2 feedbacks from customers that never paid and ebay doesnt give a shit so they restrict. Bull Shit,,,,, GO GOOGLE Thanks
  • William Dakota
Just learned that Yahoo is out of the auction biz. So, that leaves you know who! When oh when are you going to get it up?
  • Silvia H.
Good luck Google, bring on the auction site asap. eBay has high fees and is trouble nonstop!!
Come on Google, put eBay it's place. The sooner the better.
  • Wllie Braiden
Horray Its time you got a bit of your own medicine.Ebay, the best news ive heard for a long time. A load of lying bastards that unless you are filling their pockets with cash, they will go to any lengths to make life as hard for you as they can. Both Ebay and their sister company Paypal are both so unhelpful it is nearly unbelieveable, Goodbye Ebay and good riddance
  • S_design
This article is two years old, I hope Google come up with the auction site already. Ebay is sucking every penny out of my business, I work full time on my business and most of the time pay more than 60% to 70% of my profits to ebay. They know that there is no competition so they can hike up the fees when ever they feel like. I have really started to hate ebay.
Please Google help us all out.
  • Please do bring on the competition, I'm ready to move to Google, eBay and especially PayPal suck. Funny business going on there!
  • Rob Mayer
Wow, finally... I really hope Google takes off with this and sends eBay packing! Yeah, you hear that eBay!? "Nobody likes you... you SUCK!" This is great though, it really is... eBay's fee's are totally outrageous, but when they started shutting down some of my legitimate auctions, ECT. due to what they thought was "fraud" (while somehow, actual fraudulent activity is slipping through the cracks) thats what really pissed me off! I hate eBay with a passion. What a bunch of dumb, ignorant, greedy b@astards!
  • dman02
Ebay has been the bull of the woods for a long time and indeed there is a time for change and go0gle will be great!! the fees are high and they do get it on both end with paypal what a ripped off !!!people just need to stop talking about moving and move that would indeed hurt ebay in their wallet!! customer services is a joke and to top that off trust& safety for who very sad department. Hurry up google we are waiting!!!!

  • The last writer wants banks to be involved in Google's payment system. It already can be -- for large ticket items.

People can’t pay for an expensive car — or piece of earthmoving equipment — or a boat using the PayPal's $500 limit. So they end up Wiring thousands of dollars to strangers or phoney escrow companies.

On-Line auctions could included standard trade finance as a payment option on their website. This means the auction site would suggest that the buyer of a big ticket item (say over $10,000) open a Letter of Credit with their bank using standard criteria which is posted on the auction site’s payment page. When the “pink slip” is presented to the buyer’s bank the money is released to the seller’s bank. No documentation and delivery, no money.

There are a couple of great benefits to this: the banks have been handling escrow accounts and Letter of Credit for over one hundred years, and know how to do it ethically. Domestic LCs are not much different from International LCs, so with this basic information addition, the auction site makes it possible for the rest of the world to responsibly bid on big ticket items. Everyone makes more money.

Yes, there’s still a big gap between PayPal’s $500 and Letters of Credit for $10,000 and up, I grant you. But take a look at eBay – they have quite a selection of items for over $100,000. This is a growth market which needs professional money handling.

Yes, most sellers want to be paid before releasing the goods. The solution for them is to use a company like InterNetLC.com which has a network of social investors who will advance the money, put an Assignment of Proceeds onto the LC for the amount of the loan plus their mark-up. InterNetLC.com does all the paperwork for both parties, and inspects the item to ensure that it is shipped. The buyer pays a minimal fee to InterNetLC.com. When the “pink slip” and documents clear the buyer’s bank, the social investors are repaid and any remaining balance goes to the seller.

InterNetLC.com has been suggesting this programming addition to eBay for about three years. We’ve had two appointments, but both times were met by staffers who knew nothing about banking and everything about programming. Bottom line, both youngsters politely said that eBay is making so much money selling $10 T-shirts that no-one internally is interested in solving the problem of large ticket sales or supplementing PayPal’s services. And we were politely shown the door.

Letters of Credit provide a business solution for large ticket transactions. InterNetLC.com has already helped other on-line auction transactions, and successfully shipped $200,000-heavy equipment to Ethiopia and Nigeria using this method. Everyone got paid.

John Dunlop, CEO of InterNetLC.com, is making presentations to international bankers on the inevitable addition of international trade finance to on-line auctions, because the flood of business will be enormous for them. This change will make exporting a viable business alternative for SMEs, and seriously crimp the fraudsters profits.

I have never enjoyed dealing with Ebay and have not listed in almost a year. My feedback rating is 100%. I hope your auction site does well and will be glad to list with you, Ebay needs some competition. Ebay talks a big talk about PayPal and how safe it is, but every time I list anything I start getting spoof emails from fake PayPal sites. My brother lost $3000.00 with PayPal. Recently I spent almost 45 minutes putting my first auction togeather in almost a year and started my auction, only to have Ebay remove the auction and trash can it because I said I would accept cash, personal check, money order or PayPal. The auction was removed because cash was listed as an accepted form of payment. This is an attempt by Ebay to force more people to use PayPal. So I have canciled my PayPal account and hope you will start a payment processing service to Paypal with the backing of a bank, I would like for the FDIC to regulate anyone who has my money.
    Thank You

I hope and pray that a Google will make gbuy.com a reality. eBay is truly the apex of evil. It is beyond me how a company of their magnitude has continued to operate. eBay is nothing but a blood-sucking monster, whose everlasting greed and lack of ethics have become unbearable. Customer service is non-existent, fraud is rampant and fees are high. Their policies are enforced in a manner which can only be described as arbitrary and juvenile.
The only way to stop this cancer is with a heavy dose of competition.
  • Pilfer
EBAY SUCKS! PLEASE MAKE AN AWESOME AUCTION SITE, MAYBE EBAY WILL BE ELIMINATED COMPLETELY!!!
  • Telebiz
Ebay treats everyone like a crook if theyTHINK you've listed something that is legit and they don't think so.....I would so love to see sellers and buyers have an alternative to those idiots that run Ebay.
  • Bear
Folks now is the time. The new above $200 dollar blind bidder ID that feebay has implemented drove one of the last nails in their box.

Is that the sound from the first shovel full of dirt I hear being thrown in the hole?

Please just remember: "Keep it real!"

    Best Regards, "Bear"

Anyone that knows ebay well enough hates them and that's a given, rightfully so, but, with over a year on from this article and nothing has happened.

hopfully the fact that a short domain like "gbuy.com" isn't hosting a site means that something is getting close to happening.
  • It's no accident that I hate eBay and lost my shirt on their auction site! I will NEVER deal with them again. Can't wait for Google Auctions. Yahoo isn't doing real good, either. They've had a problem registering as a seller for the past three months and they don't care enough to fix it. I told them they'll be sorry when Google launches its new auction site. Hopefully, it'll be so good we'll never have to mess with another auction site again. Kudos to you.
  • louis lindner
Heard all this before. Ebay sucks but others that try to imitate it suck worse. It isn't all about the fees. Google has to have a format similar to Ebay to compete. Feedback can be useful but only if the transaction is completed, Ebay caters to Vero and they should cater to the sellers first and if Vero wants to interfere let them do it in court. Paypal should get their fees from Ebay not the seller a second time around. How shameful. Complaints are ignored on Ebay and their forum will delete items the don't like you to bring up. Dictatorship towards members. Ebay is powerful and people are helpless to them. The other auction sites really suck and that is why Ebay rules for now. Feebay or the highway. Google hasn't done squat yet and they better do things similar to Ebay's format without all the high fees before they hope to complete.
  • Julia
It would be wonderful if Google would become an Ebay competitor. We have needed one for a long time. Ebay is very greedy. Please hurry and do something Google ! I will switch all of my auctions over to Google as soon as their door opens.
  • John
I think it is high time that eBay gets some competition -- I for one would switch to Google Auctions just to show eBay they aren't so "High and Mighty" and if enough sellers and buyers left eBay, JUST maybe eBay would start to take the complaints from their long time customers seriously.

Ebay rips off sellers with over priced listing and final value fees, then gets another cut through their PAYPAL service - and still they use animated and pop up ads on their search pages to get MORE revenue -- while annoying it's customers who REPEATEDLY ask them to remove the CPU intensive ads they force on everyone.

It's time for a change eBay - there's going to be a new Sheriff in town........
  • George Benman
EBAY DOES NOTHING FOR ANYONE ONE. . THEY DISCONTINUE AUCTIONS AT WILL THEIR TRUST AND SAFETY DEPARTMENT IS A SHAM THAT HAS NO RESPONSE TO ANY QUESTION .. NONE. . DISTRUST AND NON SAFETY FOR ALL SELLERS AND BUYERS
  • To Ebay's demise!!
I chanced upon this website and was dismayed- a little because this is over a year old news! and i searched and looked around, couldn't find any update or any news at all related to this. However, I'm glad to see that the thread of comments are at least ongoing! Hoping google would read it and pursue the auction site to compete with Ebay. This isn't about if google would ultimately SAVE US from the thieves that has become ebay... this is simply having a huge company competing against another huge company. competition brings a leveling ground and consumers, buyers and sellers win in the end. let them fight who is the best auction site! in the process, we win. Sure, google could be another crook but ebay needs to be stopped and at this point, nobody comes close- not even yahoo auctions! if google is the vehicle to put a halt on ebay's continued open robbery, so be it. we welcome that! ebay is the supreme evil! i don't think google would be as evil because ebay is one of a kind evil... i have faith in google that they would deliver for the people. if not, i will still choose google over ebay- i'll just have to justify by saying- i'm choosing the lesser evil!
  • Ebay suspended my account because a suspended user (who had made a new account) checked their account on my computer (a legit Ebay user of 6 years)

I had active sales going in which some auctions won were unpaid. Ebay billed me automatically for these unpaid sales.

Some products I bought from ebays stores broke recently they have a 1 year warranty, I need the invoice for them to return to manufacturer.

Ebay won't let me contact seller until suspension is cleared up,

Ebay won't return my money on over billing me until suspension is fixed.

Ebay is unwilling to reinstate my account, because those robots at trust and safety don't know how to deal with customers in ANY type of matter., they know how to cut and paste, but reading isn't a requirement.

That's why Ebay will fail when Google comes about, their customer support is NON EXISTING, yet their billing system work 100% to a T.

To respond to Mike's stupidity, "Why does everyone think a Google auction site will solve their problems ? How do you know this won’t be messed up like Ebay ?"

Greedbay is absolutely the most greedy, crooked company that I've ever dealt with or ever seen in existence. The amount of money that Meg Whitman and her cronies have stolen from the people and leached from Ebay is unparalleled. ANY other company is going to be more fair than Ebay has become.
  • Mike
Why does everyone think a Google auction site will solve their problems ?
How do you know this won't be messed up like Ebay ?

The answer is you don't know.
If it's so great why hasn't it already started.
This story was released in October 2005.

When it's up and running,I''ll shut down every auction I have at ebay the SECOND I hear the good news!..make sure they take Ol'Paypal down the toilet with them...Please don't offer that faulty payment system or anything like it!Keep it honest and keep it reasonable and you'll have riches beyond your wildest dreams from happy customers!
  • I think you should call it Gbay, or GEEbay, or ISbay, or etcBAY, or ......
  • Liz G
This latest "enhancement" this week where bidders names can no longer be seen on any auction over $200 is the last straw! Ebay can now be officially called "Shill Bay".

You've got your shopping cart in order, the etailers are all behind you with discounts to whoever signs up with Google's equivalent to Paypal. When is the online auction site going to be ready to go?

Please don't let ebay arm wrestle you out of the business with legal threats or keep you quiet with hush money. You will rise further, faster and far longer than ebay if you keep sellers fees reasonable, only allow one i.d. per person (protect it by sending the confirmation code in a letter to the home of the individual), keep all transactions and correspondence within the password protected Google world and if there's something critical - snail mail it to the member. Don't allow second chance offers and ensure shipping charges are factual with penalties to sellers who upcharge more than X$ per shipment. Things like that will help it work like a charm.

We're all ready and waiting. Just give us the word when we're supposed to pack our bags.

I am a relatively new seller to eBay. I had moderate success selling, for the most part, my artwork. I sat down and calculated what I paid in eBay and Paypal fees and was dismayed at what I actually made on each piece! This is on items I spent hours or days creating! Has anyone heard on where Google is on creation of their auction site? I am all for it! eBay really needs some stiff competition.

" g-BID " .....bring it on!! e-bay & paypal have become illegal monopolies. AT & T was broken up for far less. HEY GOOGLE - think of the CASH you will earn your shareholders, not to mention the interface traffic to the others in the google family. With all the bright people at google ( even the bean counters ) you can bleed & gut out a massive % of e-Bay in mere months. Sellers pay the toll man, over and over. Bidders dont pay a dime to support the system. Without sellers, there NO listings. And sellers are ready to jump ship en - masse. And don't mimic the feebay finance arm of "paypal" - go into a legitimate partnership with 1 or more LEGAL North American Banks. Don't think for a nanosecond that CHASE would not LEAP at the chance to partner on that kind of traffic and offer "g-banking"... c'mon google, never mind the prattling of the discontent - grab this market and grow it in the new directions you are known for.

ebay--cobb and whittmans the freedy pompus assholes are out of touch with the internet auction community..they need to be put out of business as they have ripped off and milked plenty of good buyers and sellers, it is time for google to stop talking and thinking and jump on inZ..THEY (GOOGLE) WILL FIND OUT HOW MUCH THE AUCTION COMMUNITY WILL WELCOME THEM...EBAY IS FINISHED, THEY ARE JUST RECYCLING GOODS OVER AND OVER.PUT COBB AND WHITTMAN OUT ON THE STREETS WHERE THEY B ELONG

Several of my favorite sellers have closed their stores on Ebay....hurry up Google....I can't wait for you to get going!
  • Good riddens Ebay, your bad practices and lack of customer service and irrational tactics will bite you in the end. Hello Google I welcome your auctions and will NEVER use E-Bay again. Google make sure you have phone support, in all areas.

I have been an honest trader on ebay for 7 years. All of a sudden my acct. has been restricted to a few auctions a week. I do not sell replica, fake or unlawful items only authentic items. I go to great lengths to insure they are authentic and have so stated it to ebay. Now after 7 years my acct. is restricted. This is the stupid, moronic imbecilic form letter answer they reply "Potentially infringing items violations: "Potentially infringing" means that items may be in violation of certain copyrights, trademarks, or other rights. For your protection, some items here are not allowed (i.e. are "prohibited"), regardless of their legality, because they almost always violate copyright or trademark laws. It is impossible to receive an intelligent reply, only form letters. Every day I see fakes on ebay and they do nothing to remove these item even when complaints are filed. Simple reason it takes money out of there pocket. Ebay has become a bastion for crooks and thieves and is slowly pushing the honest sellers out. They do nothing to quell the tide of non paying bidders and rip off artists. I will sign with Google in a heart beat and have no doubt they will be a more effective, honest and open auction site with a decent customer service, then ebay can send there form letters to one another as they head for the unemployment line.
  • JIM
Guess what folks? eBay just raised their rates AGAIN! Now it costs you 40¢ to list an item in the $1.00 to $9.99 starting price range. Not only that, if your item sells for $25.01 to $1,000 you will pay a final value fee of 3.25% instead of 3%. Now, I'm no rocket surgeon but I'm going to take a wild stab at it and guess that the most popular starting price would be...carry the four...times the square root of... Ah ha, $1.00 to $9.99. I'm not even going to do the math for the most common final selling price as I'm not that smart. Common Google! Get that auction site started.
  • BRANDE
GREAT~! YAHOO AUCTIONS IS NICE FOR NOW... BUT I WILL BE GLAD WHEN GOOGLE AUCTIONS HAS STARTED!
  • Nancy
I've been using Ebay a few months now,
the days when they have listings for .15 that is bull, false advertising. After i list my item i end up spending about 3.80 to 4 dollars something.
That isn't fair to me, i don't make hardly any money. in 2006 i probably spent about 200 to 300 dollars just in the past few months in listings. Very outrageous. I'm looking forward for google to launch the Auction. I'm looking for better prices on listing. I think Google will be better off to have a no listing fee, only a small selling fee. Also a payment collection setup which doesn't take money out everytime you sell an item. This in turn will maximize profit for the seller which in turn will draw more business and take away ebay for good.
  • Roy
Google is my favorite search engine and I am over whelmed to hear that google will be in the auction business. I am sick of ebay. They have treated us like we're not human.
  • Peter
This is music to my ears..Down with E-bay and all its useless customer service and there fees, fees, and more fees..I have been with ebay for awhile..and my account had been suspended like 4 times within 2 months and no reason was ever given and time it took them 1 whole week (7days) b4 i could use it again. E-bay and Paypal should be sued and then all the profit that they stole from ebayers all these yeasr should be returned...each and every cent...
They think they own the world, Well bottom line i am glad to hear that Google is the next generation and e-bay is old school...I also hope that Google won't use Paypal as a payment method either..very bad customer service...hope they all go out of business and all those laid back, over paid worker loose their jobs. I watched a program on e-bay and also how that old haagg lady that is now currently the ceo etc...try to explain or justify the fee hikes etc...thats all crap and trying to say that past ebayers that aren't happy and complain too much are bad apples etc....blah blah blah...that old hag is just kickin back collecting her fat ass paycheque and taking luxury plane rides all over the place etc....E-bay hope that u will be buried by Google and after that....i noe u will plead and beg for ebayer to come back..or what u might do is make offers like 10cent listing....poo to u.
Once google open i hope each and everyone leaves e-bay.........
  • Bye Bye Ebay..
I am so glad to see that there will now be a choice. Ebay will be deserted and disappear like a fart in the wind. Those son's of bitxhes need to get what they deserver for there lack of customer service and ignorant business practices. I've been selling keyless remotes on ebay (my ID is 'mykeyless') for 8 years. I am the number one remote seller on ebay and in a second, THEY SUSPENDED my account. I was told that they can not tell me why due to 'safety and security reasons'. They treat people like sh*t and need to go down. Oh, to all my buyers, I'm sorry but you will not be getting your purchases. Thank ebay for this.
  • Constantin Philippou
does anyone know when Google will have its auction site up and running?
  • Yee-Haw! Hurry up,Google-I've got a whole warehouse full of great stuff to list ! I want it all~ a Google store,Google checkout, the works! I hope Meg and Bill aren't too sad when I'm gone...
  • MRX
Please Please Please let it be true google & start up your auctions .Ive been selling on ebay science 1998 & have thousands of feedback. Ebay is the only company Ive worked for that gives you a pay cut instead of a raise each year !!I would ditch ebay in a second to do google auctions & use googles version of paypal . By the way ebay dosent allow your payment service in thier check out ..Is that even legal ?? I knew the second they bought paypal that they would pull somthing like that if somone ever gave a payment service to compete with paypal. So please start up google auctions Im sure it would make the Christmas for thousands of going to be former ebayers .THANK YOU & GOOD LUCK!!
  • PL
I hate EBay's high fee! I hope GOOGLE auction gets started SOOON!

I also hate idiot buyers on ebay that complain about an item being sell for $.99 with and $18.99 Shipping.

FFFFFing idiots, as a buyer, does it make a difference if the price is $.99 and shipping is $18.99...compare to the price being $18.99 and shipping is $.99. NO!

FFFFing idiots...you still end up paying $19.98 for the item. As a buyer, you're suppose to look at the final amount when shipping + price is added to see if it's reasonable to buy.

FFFing idiot buyers...who complain why the shipping is so high....IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT THE SHIPPING IS....IT"s THE TOTAL PRICE!!!!

Sellers do that to help lower Ebay's FVF. This does not hurt the buyer....so all the buyers out theree, FFFFIng sit down and think..idiots..
  • Ebay needs to have a wake up call and Google is just the thing we need.
Ebay's fees are out of control and need to be put in check, its time someone else came to go up against them!
screw ebay and paypal, who do they think they are? the government?
  • Go Google! It is about time somebody put an end to eBay's monopoly. After 5+ years as a Power Seller I finally closed my account a few weeks ago. I would rather flip burgers than have to deal with the idiots there. they provide ZERO customer service yet charge you an arm and a leg to use their site. They charge sellers a fortune yet allow buyers to rip us off and give sellers no way of contacting them. After 5 years of getting screwed I never even got KISSED! there outta be a law!
  • Vijay
definately ebay is like saddam husein and george busH

Greedy m fuckers fuck ebay they are killing all small people in the world

  • Jim
    Screw ebay!

    C'mon Google!
Let's see a slick Web 2.0 version of Google Auctions, that integrates, Google Checkout, Google Maps, package tracking, inventory control, Feedback, etc!

    I can't wait!
  • eBayPowerseller
    Awesome Google! Here's a suggestion:

Have your engineers write a tool that will copy my listings off eBay and list them on your site. So I can keep in business while I transition off eBay. Or, at least be able to process CSV TurboLister files.

    Go!
  • Tommy
Did you know eBay is now cancelling listings that they think has too high of a shipping charge. Do they know that we use exspensive packaging materials? Do they know the weight of the the item? Do they know that we spend valuable time packaging these items (isn't this handling?). Our store sells many, many items ranging from $2.00 to $1,000.00 each! They have also continually hiked their rates over the past year! It looks like I am not alone in this matter. They are making it harder and harder to sell on their site. We would definately go to google if they had an auction site!

    Yeah!
  • Kim Y.
Dear God, let this be true & quickly!
10 weeks ago, money was taken from our account for an item purchased just before Ebay pulled the listing (no reason given). With no response from the seller, I filed a Dispute with PayPal & Ebay - STILL NO ITEM RECEIVED AND NO MONEY REFUNDED!
I was just getting our Ebay store going and preparing our website to be launched and integrated with the Ebay store so we can begin to recoop some of the EBAY FEES with more sales when POOF! - PayPal put a freeze on our account and required all kinds of personal information including copies of our Social Security cards and Driver's Licenses!
Then we lost power and our internet service for 8 days. When it was restored today & I checked on our sales, EBAY HAD SHUT US DOWN WITH NO REASON GIVEN! I SWEAR, WE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG!
If Google can maintain the professionalism it has been know for in an Auction Website, I'M THERE! BRING IT ON and MAKE IT QUICK, PLEASE!
  • David Clark
Ebay grows worse by the day. What a perfect fit, Paypal and Ebay, two money hungry frauds now one.

Google, please, PLEASE get the lead out and lets all rejoice at the DEATH of Ebay! No one can do it but Google, and frankly I do NOT want anyone to do it BUT Google!

Hey, that's a grand idea.. Lets do a class action law suit. What I just went through on ebay because of a 16 year kid claiming to own the copy rights to what I was selling, and he just wanted to corner the market on the item so he signed a some kind of legal documents stating that he was in fact the owner, and ebay believed him.. This guy is now in the 11th grade. Ebay handled this situation very poorly so I am ready for some sort of class action suit. See what I mean about greed..
  • Deborah B.
Ebay without a doubt has the worst customer service that I have, and I'm sure everyone else has encountered. They have policy's and proceedures that seemed to be made up by children. Ebay is made up of selling branded material, and yet anyone can claim the copyrights to these materials, multible people actually. There are law firms that represent companies that open accounts on ebay that sit and watch auctions like watch dogs, then have you suspended with warning, and ebay still charges you for your listings. It seems that anyone can claim to own anything on ebay. You have to watch your back constantly, and without a doubt the fees are down right ridiculous. Ebay used to be right little home based business to have, but now they are a multi-million dollar company that has gotten very greedy. It seems that ebay like the dishonest people because they make a whole lot of money from them. They may have the money and the power now, but greed has a way of catching up. COME ON GOOGLE!!!HURRY UP WE NEED YOU...
  • David
Ebay is begging for a class action lawsuit. All that horse crap about "go ahead and bid, it's safe" is just that horse crap. I had an ebay store but closed it after the last price increase. Go Google, take feebay out!!!
  • Marty
Is this true? God, please, please let it be true! Google please fill this gigantic vacuum!

ebay has almost ZERO commitment to ANY of the following:

    Customer service
    Non-paying bidder consequences
    Fair listing policies,
    Live chat help, etc.
a logical, usable feedback system, etc, etc.

The need for GOOGLE AUCTIONS could not be greater! Please get it started ASAP.
  • Philosophea
It would be interesting if, instead of foisting the fees onto the sellers, eBay were to place them on the buyers instead. To bid on an auction, the buyer would have to pay $.35, for example. When they won the auction, they would have to pay the final value fees too... the fees that eBay got would be the same, but the buyer would be feeling the pinch instead of the seller. The fees would be non-refundable (unless there was a gross breech of conduct by the seller, of course), to help discourage that, "I changed my mind/I found it cheaper at Wal-Mart/My cat bid on it..." line of reasoning used by those who choose not to pay for items that were bought with their accounts.

It would also be nice if Chinese sellers had to pay fees too... (and if eBay did something about that, "Item will ship from Asia, USA, payment in GBP" thing that some of the Chinese sellers use to get around search options that screen out non-U.S. sellers).

Their planning thusfar has been to raise fees during slow times, or throw in a reduced-fee day to boost sales (followed by a later hike in fees).

It'd be nice if they cracked down on those who gouge for shipping (who move their profits over to the shipping side so that you end up with a DVD being sold for $.10, with a shipping rate of $20. Everyone suffers in the long-run, because fees go up to compensate for the lost revenue. Who pays the fees? The people who don't move their profits over to the shipping side of things...).

It'd be nice if they, for example, charged no FVF for items that sell for under say, $50.

It'd be nice if they allowed sellers to take other on-line payment options, rather than closing auctions that offer to take Bidpay, or concealed cash... I'm sure they'll prohibit people from accepting checks or money orders eventually.

It'd be nice if they kept duplicate items from a seller from cluttering up the screen... (I get so sick and tired of seeing X of the same exact item being offered by the same exact seller...20...50.... One time, 70 of the same exact item... if anything, it makes me think that the item is common and not worth my time).

It'd be nice if they had a hobby-side and a professional side for sellers. Sellers who were selling professionally (as in, a real buisness) would have their listings up on one section of eBay, and those who were hobby sellers (selling in the whole Garage Sale vein, for example) would have their stuff listed in another site. You could only have a store, for example, in the professional side. The garage-type sellers would be charged lower fees (because they wouldn't be selling higher end stuff, assuming, and would just be wanting to empty their closets of stuff they don't want anymore) while the professional sellers would be charged higher fees, with the caviat that the professional site would be kept as free of crud as possible, and be higher-end (what they're trying to do with Express, I think...). If a hobby seller sold an item for over, say, $200, it could be charged on the rates of the professional side, so as to keep people from sneaking over to sell higher-dollar items for cheap. On the professional side, there'd be a higher standard of behaviour, and perhaps only sellers who'd been with the site for a length of time, holding a good selling record, could switch sides.

There are two different type of sellers on eBay, and it was the garage sale types that made eBay what it is.

    As it is...

They have no reason to offer good customer service. People keep bidding. People keep selling. They make money as it is, why spend money on an expanded service they're doing fine without it?

They have no reason to be fair as far as fees go. While there are many little sites out there trying to do the auction thing, none of them have real solid name recognition, which is what Google Auctions would have. People don't trust some small site they've never heard of (which is why both eBay and Paypal had to beg people to trust them at the start. Paypal used to pay people to join up!)

They have no reason to be kind to sellers, either, even to Powersellers. Why? Because there's always someone trying to sell some unwanted stuff for quick money, who will always undercut those trying to make a living at it. New sellers sign up all the time. They may go out of buisness in an eyeblink, but there are always loads more waiting in the wings.

People need more options. Google Auctions would be another option, and if nothing else, the two could beat eachother into something customers and sellers alike could happily live with.
  • m greathouse
Been on Ebay for 5 years now,all they ever do is charge you higher and higher fees, sure they listened breifly when there was a massive exodus awhile back, but the only reason they did was because they figured out a another way of making up for the fees.
And Ebay listings if you own the rights to a compilation, and report it to Ebay you may as well just give it away for free(I did just that after frustration)unless your Dell,or Microsoft,or IBM,Ebay could care less about your protected copyrights.
Just today I lost $30.00 because of theft, and they refuse to do anything about it.
Why?because someone will steal your work list it for 1 day listing,by the time they investigate the item has already closed, and been bought,Ebay still collects their fees, while I get shafted.
Not to mention that their Paypal excepts the theft monies, and refuse to put a hold on the money pending any theft investigation, because I was neither a buyer or seller in the transaction, bunch of crap.
I was just thinking last night I remember Yahoo auctions before they got carried away with advertising,it was an enjoyable site, but I also remember they started advertising on listings, after a couple of years it dawnd on me that Yahoo was doing anti-trust by hijacking a sellers listing page for advertising,I wrote them, and in less than a week Yahoo anounced that auction listings were free.
So its obviouse that yahoo listens, unlike Ebay.
I think the biggest problem with yahoo was that they made it way too hard for many people to join(credit card)as many people do not want to give out their credit card information.
And the thieves on yahoo were running rampant.
If Google does have an auction site I think that it is fair and reasonable to charge a $0.35 listing fee, which includes a picture unlike that pathetic little Ebay picture they allow for $0.35,and no final value fees if Google has a payment system simular to Paypal, and if the seller uses the payment system.
Ebay shouldve dropped their 3% final value fees when a seller uses Paypal as a payment option.

Our nurses go Haiti every 6 weeks as we support two orphanages there with donations. . and ebay stopped that! see our website (as we also asked ebay to do). . www.haitiorphansproject.org, we are an incorporated, IRS approved orphans and childrens CHARITY!

I am hoping google does this. ebay treats their sellers like crap and is suspension happy. i would love it if google started an online auction. they would definitely have all of my business and i know alot of other peoples business too.
  • John
It’s about time, ebay has gotten to a level where they think they are above the law, and can make any rule they want legal or not. Ebay is run by a bunch of amateurs, the CEO didn’t last long at Hasbro, she needs a make up job, and dress the part, not look like you bought your stuff at a second hand store. I am a power seller, if google opened tomorrow I would stop listing forever on ebay. They created there own problems, no one else
  • Gordon
Please hurry! e-bay changed the shop listings so they dont show up on searches! How DUMB are they? I cannot wait to wave them goodbye!

  • Jim Leja
I left a comment last year when I first heard that you may create an auction site, since then e bay has went downhill even more, I'd like to make a comment from a buyer's point of view, devote a lot of interest in catagorizeing,it's frustrateing browesing through e bay any more, nothing is in order, I'm hopeing that you have a section for the small seller that just wants to sell an item or two,it's hard to many used items, these people made e bay,I used to just browse and buy things that I was'nt even looking for, it was like a garage sale on line, Please set a portion asidefor that purpose, jim

Hey google way to go I cannot wait for you guys to open up. Maybe you could consider much lower Featured fees. It is killing little guys like me who are just starting out. Ebay Sucks. I have been with them for three years now and have put out more money then I have made. Not to mention I have been suspended twice for no good reason at all. I think it's all a bunch of crap.
  • Richard Saunders
Hoorah!! Get this site up soon as possible. ebay have cocked up a massive number of my transactions and i have had enough.
  • Glad to see that there will be some more competition for Ebay.

As for now until Google Launches thier auctions there is an alternative to Ebay at http://www.royalblaze.com

You can even import your turbo lister/Ebay listings to the site.

Import Ebay & other auction sites verified Feedback...

Im in,ebay and their politicaly corectness make me puke.theres enough people that are sick of ebay that can make google auctions work.please do it.
  • Dave
As an eBay Power Seller I would rejoice greatfully if Google started an auction site. After paying eBay fees for over seven years I would love to give some of that money to someone else. Their customer service is non-existant, their fee structure is a gouge and Paypal has turned into a joke. They promote the sale off junk & cheap knock offs. They refuse to police their own site and leave the reporting of fraud & rule violations up to vindictive tattle-tails with nothing better to do with their lives. They try to be politically correct in the extreme by banning all sorts of historical items. I for one will jump ship to your site in a heartbeat if you open one.

    Sent to Ebay:

Why don't you stop wasting your time removing questionable auctions, where you haven't heard a complaint from
an actual customer. Why don't you go after the PULSE.EBAY.COM Scammers, they are all adding people manually
and using scripts (*.swf) files to get ppl added to their watch list. These people are exploiting your system everyday.
Yet, you sit by and watch and let it happen. Stop the exploitation of innocent Ebayers. Someone new to ebay, actually
thinks that they are seeing items on PULSE that real people are watching. Its all a SET-UP, how can you explain why
some seller can get his items listed over, and over and over again. This is PLAIN and SIMPLE and you can see this
HAPPENING. Plus to top it off you do nothing to stop it. SHAME ON YOU!

I will be forced to bring this to the attention of NEWS STATION 7 ON YOUR SIDE. See what they think of this.

You like bad publicity? Well if you do not correct this problem I will be forced to contact a NEWS STATION.

My Grand Mother Got RIPPED OFF TWICE. Just because she trusted Ebay and actually thought those items were for real..

This is not an idle threat, I will be contacting a LOCAL NEWS STATION, CHANNEL 7 EYE WITNESS NEWS.

This is all because your COMPANY REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING....
  • John
I would love to see another auction site that will rival eBay, but please get some input from currrent eBay sellers and research this extensively. Everybody wants to make money, but let's share the wealth by keeping fees reasonable and by recognizing that growth does not always translate into raising prices. Unfortunately eBay is managed by the same kind of self-serving jackasses that govern our country...Let us not continue making the same mistakes as these idiots. For once will a corporation acknowledge that its growth and prosperity come from the very people that support it. Let us start anew and work harmoniously to achieve like-minded goals.

    Thank-you

closed my shop on ebay uk tonight the sums just dont add up due to there fee hikes
google go for it i will be with you 100% ebay need a kick in the a**e
  • Tiffany
Don't even get me started on ebay, I just filed a complaint against them with the BBB because my accounts been suspended for a week and noone can give me an answer to why. Plus the fact i just paid them 700.00 in fees for last month and i can't even use them. They have absolutly no sense of customer service. You talk to the live customer service through a chat, then they transfer you to their security only for them to tell you you have to email another department that doesn't even respond. Between ebay fees and paypal fees, i end up making like 5.00 on a 300.00 order. Please for the love of god, open another auction site!!
  • Evelyn
What is taking so long? Is this happening or is it speculation? Please, please, please tell me a viable alternative is coming very soon.

I have never seen a company that flat out didn't listen to any complaints at all.
  • Kelly
I too am waiting for google. In the meantime I'm selling on overstock.com auctions. Everyone should sell there until google is ready. Google will be the end of ebay I believe. Actually ebay will the end of themselves with the ridiculous fee increases.
  • Thier boats and houses are not big enough, so they make us pay. Our margins were hurting as it were and just today they have announced and increase on store listing and ending fees.

GoogleAuctions... you are welcome with open arms!
  • Faith
As an EBay Powerseller for the last 5 years, I welcome a new auction venue! The problems with EBay are multi-fold from fees, to fraud, to lack of any type of customer service, and beyond, Too many sellers (and a LOT of bad ones) making the selling prospects slim. I have now cut my listings down by over 50%. It is finally time for a company with the savvy of Google to take the ball and run! Just don't go down the same path as EBay has. Don't lose control of your core. Hire people who have had selling & Marketing background..not just tech people, and set some criteria for buyers and sellers. This can be a winner and you will have the success of EBay, if not greater, if you get it right!
  • Jo in UK
Ebay has shot itself in the foot with the recent round of fee increases and is rapidly losing the confidence of its sellers. The forums are rife with disenchanted shops, large & small, eagerly waiting for another, viable, venue. The time is right for a major rival. Google has the credibility to capture this new audience, being as much a 'household' name as eBay itself. BRING IT ON GOOGLE ~ WE NEED YOU! but please ensure you don't become a similar victim of money grabbing as greedbay has done over the past 6 months.
  • kathy
I too will give google a shot, after spending the last 8 years on ebay successfully. I look forward to google being up and running!
  • John
I was about to open an eBay shop yesterday having traded on eBay auctions for over a year now.
Then I saw a link about price changes in the UK and was gobsmacked to learn final value fees are rising to 10% on cheap items!!!
This is a total ripoff, due of course to there being no effective competition to eBay at present.
So yes I am eagerly awaiting Google auctions - I hope the waiting is due to Google doing sound design and working out fair policies.

*Crossing my fingers* that Google will give eBay a run for their money! I'm a gold (sometimes platinum) level powerseller and would jump ship in a heartbeat if Google starts a stores platform of their own.

This latest fee increase was just too much to swallow.

    Come on Google, we're waiting!!!
  • Suzanne
    Support from Australia.
Please help us small people too Google.
With fair auction prices everyones a winner including You!
    Down with FeeBay.
  • Google-PLEASE do something soon, Man. We are being eaten alive by CREEPbay! Us Powersellers are so freakin PO'ed and sick to death of the BS. Help us put Meg and Cobb in the welfare lines-they have stolen from me and my family for too long! HELP US!!!!!!! Me and my store will be there in a heartbeat!
  • Jamie McPhail
when is the google auctions starting? im sick of the petty bullshit with e-bay and paypal
  • Angela
Patiently waiting!!!! If Google provides auctions and stores, I'm in!
  • erica
    Ebay seller since 3/2000

been anxiously waiting for you Google!!

I absolutely believe in Google's Trusted Reputation !

Honest sellers + Google = symbiotically mutual profitable relationship!

    NOW's The Time!
  • Dear Google:
I own Kuntry Kritters, and am an ebay powerseller. Due to Fee-bay's latest rate hike, I have dumped over 300 listings from my store there. I will continue to keep but a skeleton store to generate new leads, while I do the bulk of my business from my website. I am looking for a new home that has the financial ability to generate a decent amount of traffic / to let buyers know that ebay isnt the only game in town. Please email me at risaris@woh.rr.com when you are up and running so that i can make sure to set up my store immediately. I'm looking forward to a new challenge!
    Sincerely,
    Larisa Butcher

It is about time Ebay had some competition. All Google will have to do is set up a true and honest working customer service network and a little advertising to the effect that there is a true live customer service center that
works and not have caned and scripted responces. Direct contact to each and every department and not just to the puppets on string such as ebay. Customer service, in my opinion, will be ebay's downfall and should Google have the customer service for both buyer and seller and actually work to resolve in the correct and right manner. Google will pass ebay in a short time. Lets go Google thousands of ebay sellers are waiting and depending on you!!!!!
  • Gem
Due to health problems beyond my control, I've been forced to become a homebound person, unable to work. E-bay became my bread & butter & saved me from becoming a homeless person. That was 5 years ago.... Today, I'm nearing the welfare lines. You can only eat so many PB sandwiches... I'm paying e-bay to clean out my house. I haven't seen black in 2 years! I welcome a change, change is always good, except when it's all you have left after greedbay takes their BIG cut... I'll be waiting & I'll be ready.... But PLEASE hurry!!!! It's more then knocking, it's tearing down the house!
  • Catherine
I for one would like to see a viable selling venue for small time sellers such as myself that doesn't undergo all of the technical glitches, poor management issues, and rampant amounts of either fraudulent listings or listings in violation of the rules that are allowed to continue after they have been brought to Ebay's attention. I for one am getting tired of tolerating Ebay's tactics, and I am more than ready to join up with another venue that can offer the site traffic Ebay does without any of their usual stunts.
  • Hey Google, I'm an eBay Power Seller who will give you my business immediately when your auction site is ready to go! EBay's fees were already too high, but they have really crossed the line this time with this kick in the face being delivered to all of their most dedicated sellers on August 22, 2006! Anyone, please e-mail me at ALISONG777@aol.com to let me know when and how I can sell my items through Google. The down-sizing of my eBay store has already begun...
  • PK
Does anyone know when this will happen, and if it will happen?
  • Dale
Please hurry ebay fees are going up again!
  • Ryan
Google you would have atleast 2,000 stores come straight to your site, from eBay AU alone! The sellers there are fed up and ready to migrate and rid themselves of GreedBay forever! As one said above, it would be a license to print money!
  • Michael
The sooner Google gets into the auction scene, the better. eBay's monopoly has promoted fraud, dishonesty, false promises, theft and their privacy policy is not worth anything. Make your entry soon, Google.
  • Shaelene
Go Google! Trust me when I say this, if you get it up and running most of the australian ebay community will be onsite as both sellers and buyers within DAYS. Get your own license to print money up and running soon, save us please, I beg you, halve all the fees etc and wipe FEEBAY from the pages of time, relegated to the history books for once and for all, the gouging will spell its end
  • Susie
Oh please tell me this is true! I am so here if it happens. I am a silver poweseller on ebay, and a small store owner as well (300 or so items). I have been there for 6 years with about 2 years time taken off. Boy the changes! It's a farce, but our only real option. GIVE US ANOTHER ONE!

(is hoping ebay is reading this forum)
  • Kelly
Please, please, please....let this be true!
We're all counting on you Google to 'save' us from ebay's dictatorship!
  • Amy
When is it coming? Is it? E-bay just keeps getting more and more greedy! Now they want to up the store fees because too many people are listing in the stores and "Not the auction platform" that made E-bay famous. They have got it wrong - the POWERSELLERS made E-bay famous. The long term sellers made ebay a sucess - defending the company and platform to newbies for years! Of course we are selling more in the stores!! There are a million more people selling on e-bay than a few years ago, and where I used to sell 90 of 100 auctions - I only sell 20 of 100 due to the HIGH COMPETITION WITH THE SAME ITEMS. With the CRAZY high fees, that profit goes to pay for the 100 listings I listed in the first place! They are making money - NOT ME.
Please GOOGLE HURRY. E-bay won't know what hit them when they loose all the sellers who got them to where they are today.
  • James
Just give us the opportunity. We'll be there. Been a memberof eBay since 1996, powerseller, 2700+ store listings, etc -- just give us a viable option and be prepared for a massive migration.
  • Mary
I'll be jumping off to Google immediately if they start an auction site. eBay has had no competition for too long now so we've all been held to ransom by their ever growing greediness. Their new fee hike has done it for me - an almost 50% hike in small shop fees & almost double the final value fees show they know just where to hit so it hurts the weakest & smallest eBayers hardest. We'll happily leave you in droves eBay.
  • Raylene
EBAY again raises its fees - this time in store inventory - by up to 500%. Hurry up Google and lets wipe out FEEBAY.
  • Wayne
Ebay is greedy they just announced they are uping the Ebay store seller fees by 250 % Starting Aug 22 2006.Last year they uped the monthly store fee from 9.95 per month to 15.95 per month the item listing fee was .02 now they are uping it to .05 on Aug 22, 2006 plus the final value fees have shot up and extra 3% they are greedy greedy greedy.
I was hoping Google would start auctions , but we have heard about this since well over 1 1/2 years so where is google on this did they quit or are they still thinking about it I sure wish they would start auctions there are thousands of new seller that would leave ebay very quickly if they did but I have not heard any real new input that they are going to open auctions now, if someone does have info I'm sure alot of us would like to know if it's going to happen or is it all a big pipe dream ?????From and unhappy Ebay seller.
  • nathalie
I can't wait for google auctions either, i'm a silver powerseller on eBay and will jump ship as soon as google auctions are open. Hurry up and get it running please!!
  • David
Please GOOGLE give us a choice for auction and down with the evil empire - May the force be with us all - Please give us an update so we have something to look forward to. Just waiting to jump ship. GO GOOGLE
  • Mike Godwin
Another increase from ebay. Great! Google , please hurry, we are dying here. Ebay thinks they own the world. They are like democrats. Always want something for nothing. Please open soon!
  • Kate Hess
After 5 years of being overcharged by EBAY and PAYPAL ...I welcome Google based Auctions with open arms...Everyone who I have spoken top about GOOGLE Auctions has replied favorably. Ebay needs its comeuppance!
Just keep it simple and charge a flat rate for listing and you are a shoe-in for taking the wind allouta Ebay's sales. PLEASE HURRY!
    Katydid
  • Bronco Bill
Go Google. I will leave eBay in a New York minute as soon as you're up and running. Please have a section for vintage toy guns and please don't make us stick an orange plug in the barrel. EBay implies that this is a federal law. Federal law only applies to newly manufactured replica guns. EBay staff is either to ignorant to understand the law or they have a hidden agenda to discourage the sale of vintage toy guns. I suspect the latter. Just don't get greedy and keep the fees reasonable. Keep the site simple and easy to use. That is all it will take.
  • stormin normin
only good things to say about ebay forcing me to relist a least 45 items at an extra cost to me each time.
only goog things to say about ebay forcing me to upgrade my account 3 times at an extra cost to me each time.
only good things to say about hiding the contact of my highest bidders so i could not discuss the sale of the item they have bid on.

can you see how they have taught me to lie like their substandard staff.
i cannot express the delight i would have knowing ebay staff are having to apply for a job where you would at least need a pea for a brain.
  • Hal Norton
I hope you don't start out with all of the BUY IT NOW, that isn't an auction, that is buying in a market, it sure gets tiresome when there are page after page of all buy it now, like there are on e-bay, I am about to quit e-bay, but that is just one of the reasons, all of the hype about the fabulous money that can be made on e-bay is just that, hype. Go GO GO Google, mama always did like you best, and so do I.
  • Ian
Fantastic news, delighted Ebay will finally have serious competition, I will be one of the first to join up, Ebay & Paypal have cornered & exploited the market & its customers for far to long.
  • JSH
PayPal has the worst customer service around. Their policies border on criminal. Thank god someone is finally standing up to them.
  • I welcome new business ventures. The more the merrier. Online internet auctions-a near monopoly by you-know-who.Please do not accept reproductions & rubbish.
  • Dmitry
Does anyone know if Google will accept Paypal as one of the payment options for their auctions?
  • sledman
Let's shout it the american way! Yeehaw!! A trusted powerhouse name as Google, uhm oh Ebay your about to take a well deserved fall. We told you enough was enough!! Let's bank on it 50% plus you will lose to Google! I see you down sizing, getting smart, Or with any luck going under! Oh Google is rumered to have a payment service on the horizon also. Ouch that's gonna hurt! Thank-You Google!! We Love You!!!!!
  • Dmitry
I have made a lot of money on eBay had multiple gold powerseller accounts until i was suspended with no valid reason. I still believe that we need only one auction site but multiple ways to pay for your purchases. Please take PayPal out business, they have ruined the market with their stupidity. Right now they have the say of what happenes to you on eBay. I've been in business for almost 10 years on ebay. I still believe they are a great asset to all sellers and buyers. The only thing that is holding the market back is Paypal. WE NEED OPTIONS. ReAL competition to Paypal is a need. Real competition to Paypal's competition is a must.........
  • JESSE DICKERSON
im still in shock.i thought i was working for myself.but i feel like im selling items for ebay, ive lost lots of money on ebay,i really hope that google auctions is the answer, ive been waiting for.like jim from mad money says, their will always be someone out there who will compete against your company, its just a matter of time.
  • steve
Was real easy money for Ebay all these years too bad they got too greedy and will probably lose it all now. Would be nice to see a user friendly auction system. When I first started ebay it was a mess to figure out how to get started, they made it a bit easier but then dropped the ball. They could have made alot more money with a Fast Easy system to get lots of auctions running with a minimum amount of time loading. Should be easy money for google!!
  • nuked off
At last.we will relish the day we can trade on a system that actually works.
ebay in our 12 months of experience have become one of the most hated names inside our business.
We have a punching bag in our office that has quite a few rips in it from the punishing we have dealt it in leiu of the complete and utter uslessness of ebay and its support or should i say lack of.
good ridance to ebay and the idiots running it.
TAKE EM TO THE CLEANERS GOOGLE!
  • Well, I have been going broke on eBay for so long it seems unreal. I remember when listings were 10 cents, and sellers actually made a PROFIT! Now we on eBay are lucky to break even, while eBay gets fat. It is grossly unfair to pay eBay 3 times to collect your winnings, and all the while keep paying for listings that do not sell. Go GOOGLE! I think your payment plan should be called GOOGLE BUCKS! May the stairway to heaven that eBay has purchased at our expense lie in pieces on the ground.
  • I would love to see Ebay go into the auction business and would also love it if they would open a division like Ebay stores. Google is the one company that could really give Ebay a run for it's money. Also the way Ebay has treated it's store sellers, I am guessing 50% or more of the store owners would jump ship or at least open another store on Google. Please Google, do it soon!
  • Diana
When? When? When, is this going to happen? How will we know?
    Please tell us!
    Signed another disappointed ebay seller.
  • EsD
Hope that You hurry because when I heard that this was your (new auction site)direction and with ebay continued high fees I stoped runnning auctions after thanksgiving sometime I think and, I have bee real hesitant about restarting even though I am in good standing I just hate the fees and the treatment that ebat gives to its loyal sellers just look at what some of them will say and do when they heat about a new place to sell or and dpn even mention better prices they are gone, who wouldn't you have to be able to make something while you are selling!!!!
  • EsD
Hope that You hurry because when I heard that this was your direction ans with ebay continued high fees i stoped runnning auctions after thanksgiving sometime i think and i and real hesitant about restarting even though i am in good standing i just hast the fees and the treatment
  • dan
hey eBay looks like your Waterloo approaching, revenge time for all those sellers with auctions shut down illegitimately under the corrupt vero program...hope Google sends you to the history books!
  • DJ
I HATE EBAY!!!! They think they can suspend you any d@mn time they want. Happens over and over to legitimate sellers.
Cannot wait for you to get started. Good Luck! The sooner the better!!!!
  • Tonya
I cannot wait,be honest and answer the email...You go Google
  • Jody
As an eBay seller, I certainly look forward to a viable option to eBay for my auctions. I already closed my eBay store when they had the rate increase. Without competition, eBay will continue to raise the rates on US sellers while decreasing the already poor service.

Although I am very anxious for a Google auction site to be available, I hope they don't roll it out before it's well tested like Overstock did. I know many sellers who were excited about Overtock, but too many initial problems - especially the goofy search engine, made it very disappointing.
  • Adrian
GREAT! I AM SICK OF EBAY! SICK! SICK!SICK! I TELL YOU! ALWAYS INCREASING FEELS, SQUEEZING OUT LITTLE SELLERS LIKE MYSELF!

GO GOOGLE -- SET UP THAT AUCTION SITE NOW! PLEASE! GIVE US A WAY OUT OF EBAY!
  • ste
I hate EBAY and love google. I'm selling my shares of eBAy!!
  • Tim Dugan
Ebay are utter crap. There are counterfeit items all over the site. Here is an example: http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZdealwithalie...
  • pasquale Calvo
Working on E-bay for one year now, I am hoping that google provides us with new honest methods for selling. We have found them to be spiteful, and run by people with no scruples....hurray for Google
be not afraid - All Ebayers are with you!!!!!
  • Jerry Davis
It's about time they have some competition !!!! Others are confirming what I have suspected about Ebay for some time now. ON WITH , GOOGLE !!!!! We're ready to see what you've got !!
  • Jim Leja
I am happy to see another auction site, I have bought a lot on e bay over the years, the bidding process on e bay now is a real gimmic, there are books out to teach how to win bids, I believe that a seller should list an item at the minimum amount they would take, I hope that you do not have a secret minimum and play games, please have a legitimit grown up type action with no gimmics, I think that you would win a lot of respect over time. looking forward to your auctions. Thanks, Jim
  • ms608
eBay will have to LOWER their prices. Bwaahahahahahahahaha!
  • grammybear
PLEASE HURRY HURRY HURRY! I am going BROKE trying to make money on Ebay!
  • grammybear
    HURY< HURRY< HURRY!!!
I am going broke trying to make money on Ebay!
  • Ray
I hope your auction site works out.... down with ebay and paypal.
  • Susan Rawles
Finally, a group that will MAKE eBay competitve! I love it! I have been selling with them since the days when they were begging people to sell on their site, listings were 10 cents...now, they are so big that unless you are a huge volume seller you cannot compete. Hey Google, sign me up!
  • sump
after repeatedly reporting fraudsters, guess how many replies i recieved of e-bay? NONE!!!!!!!!!! they are promoting fraud.i predicted e-bays demise months ago.now hopefully it will be reality.
  • Chas
At last, a company that can rival Ebay. I wish you all the best, but hope that whatever you do you don't sink to the depths of Ebay. Keep listing prices/ final value fees reasonable, and keep out the scum from selling tat. And please, please, please, can we have a decent customer service dept. that acually deal with problems and fraudulent listings? Ebay did everything they could to make it impossible to get hold of them, and they didn't want to deal with problems. After all, whatever sold on Ebay, meant that Ebay got money. Greedy B@st@rds!
  • Barbara K.
I'm glad you're getting into auctions, but keep your fees down. That last fee increase on ebay really made people hate them.
  • G3 Carbon
eBay needs to be humbled. They treat us Powersellers like dirt. They get you front and backend with fees, then hit you again on the Paypal side. IT SUCKS!!! I spent over $35,000 so far this year on Listing Fees. I am so excited for google to enter the auction space. They will have 100% of my business once their doors open.
  • albert
EBAY WAS RUNNING AND HAD A RACQUET ALL THESE YEARS. THEY MADE ALL THEIR MONET ON SO MANY LISTINGS WITH NO SALES OR PURCHASES BEING DONE. A NOTHING COMPANY COLLECTING MONEY FOR NO DEALS EVER MADE. BYE BYE TO EBAY.
  • sarah
    yeah for google, byebye ebay.
  • Tracey
Thank you Google! I lost money listing on eBay. I just wanted to sell inexpensive jewelry and gifts on ebay. I never made a profit. But ebay sure did make a lot of money off me and my 3 kids. Good luck to you!
  • Betty
Say goodbye to eBay, good rid, don't come back, go into another business, maybe selling peanuts.
  • carol
Now eBay can have an auction on themsselves, I hope this is the last of ebay, and gone with the wind, all theie employes and Margaret looking for new jobs with McDonald's as counter servers. Yeay for Google.
  • lizzygal@earthlink.net
Ha, Ha, Ha, Goodbye eBay, you were worth nothing.
  • edward3@yahoo.com
Lets get rid of ebay quick. Get them all unemployed and look for a regular job that you have to work hard on. They have a soft jof by messing up peoples inventory and spending money for nothing on those high fees.
  • Samuel Carlson
Finally kick eBay out of business, they are a bunch of idiots. A bunch of kids running the show that do not know what they are doing and management is the worst in the world. They were lucky since they were the first in the business. No one makes money but themselves. It takes no brains to take listings. Now that your going in the business they quickly will fold and be unemployed like the big bubble computer firms. Open as soon as you can so I have a big laugh on them. Thanks for coming into this business and lots of luck.
