Google AdSense Adds Small Square Ad Size

Google AdSense has come out with a new sized ad unit, the 200 x 200 “Small Square.” The new Google AdSense ad size can run both text and image ads and may be large enough for some multimedia advertising.

Jen Slegg comments that the new 200 x 200 Google AdSense unit is so brand spanking new that it’s not even on their AdSense Ad Format page yet.

We’ve been switching back and forth between Google AdSense and Yahoo Publisher Network recently at Search Engine Journal but will leave Google AdSense up for the remainder of the day to run the new 200 x 200 AdSense format and compare its performance to the Large Rectangle size which we currently use.

Point of note: Yahoo Publisher Network does not carry a 200 x 200 ad size. I wonder if the new Google ad will drive demand at YPN?
