Google has acquired PeakStream, a start-up which develops tools that improve the performance of single-threaded applications on multi-core chips.
The technology can be used to beef up server capability for Google’s datacenters or also bring Google into the server optimization market.
“We believe the PeakStream team’s broad technical expertise can help build products and features that will benefit our users,” said Google PR. “We look forward to providing them with additional resources as they continue developing high performance applications for modern multi-core systems.”
