April -

Thank you for sharing your insight into managing profiles. I may be able to have a work around a long term problem by using multiple profiles.

Do you know a way to to compare profiles to see the difference. I can have a totally functional Firefox with GoogleToobar and then after x days, I am unable to log in to a particular reference resource site that I use frequently? I would love to know what it is that casues it to go from working to not working. I can always solve by creating a new profile in FireFox. (I also know that my desktop never has this problem.)

@ Software Testing : the FireFox extension mentioned in the post can also do that - I've edited the post to make it clearer. Thank you for your great addition!

@ Ann, I use the command "firefox -no-remote" to switch/open an existing profile from the list. I don't think that "firefox.exe -ProfileManager" will help to open 2 or more profile simultaneously.

@Gidseo : just to be perfectly clear, this is not about various online identities but about running several FireFox profiles to separate your different areas of work/life :) a post about several online identities is coming soon ;)
