Hi,

Our previously german-only website (http://www.babondo.com) features a more specific type of visual searching than like.com. We use face recognition search to enable our member community to find others via a visual or look-alike search that uses pictures as search targets. It works well !!!! And we are attracting a lot of attention.

Well, Like.com will eventually become a commodity when the general user starts uploading their product pictures and will look for *best deal* in the marketplace. And Like.com, to me isn't geared to be a free marketplace (free entry/exit for sellers)?
My review <a href="http://ashish-sinha.blogspot.com/2006/11/likecom-find-products-that-look-like.html" rel="nofollow">here</a>

Scott, it appears that Like.com chooses the item, then recommends items which look similar via their image results. One critique I have about their service is the celebrity spin kind of covers their core offering, which is in the search results.

However, the celeb spin gives them the launch buzz they need, and results in high dollar items - perfect for an affiliate :)

Loren,

I know. Shoot me, god damn foreigners ;) lol.

I hesitated when I wrote it. Trust your instincts! No point in editing anymore though.

Cheers

That's a really great idea! many similar image recognition stuff out there, but this actually did work. Site still kinda slow sometimes, and on some occasions buggy, but all in all, I would definitely like to see more of this, like sport players, accessories, etc.

What if they actually allowed you to search by celebrity rather than an item? Say I don't really know what I want, but I do want to look like... ? Tom Cruise... so then there might be pics of him from various movies, red carpets, etc. That I can then.. choose shoes, shirts, etc.
