CBS News to Go for Mobile Phones
CBS is releasing CBS News to Go this week, which is heiled as the first service which will send news to suscbrivers via mobile phone video. CBS News to Go will send subscribers up to five alerts a day with customizable news interests for each user.
CBS is also planning on expanding to their entertainment sectors, such as integration of CBS Sports and Entertainment Tonight content into the service and charge additional fees for such services.
“As a leading content creator we are committed to deepening our consumer’s relationship with CBS brands and programming,” said Leslie Moonves, president and CEO, CBS Corporation. “This move underscores our strategy of offering best-in-class content on as many platforms as possible while seeking out new revenue streams.”
Customers of Verizon, Cingular, T-Mobile, Sprint, Boost and Nextel with video enabled cell phones can sign up for $.99 a month at CBS News to Go.
Speaking of news for the mobile, Google launched their Google News Mobile service earlier this week.
