Bing’s Mother’s Day Guide

While flowers are the clear winner in the U.S. when it comes to Mother’s Day gifts, the exact searches vary from search engine to search engine. Moreover, the many countries that celebrated Mother’s Day on the same day as the U.S. did all searched for different items. The Bing Australia Mother’s Day guide gives some interesting insight into what’s popular down under.

Top searches included the usual suspects of flowers and perfume, but more surprising was the mass of searches for hair products. Items like hair creme, hair extensions, and hair straighteners all appeared toward the top of the Bing Australia list. Further, cooking – including both cook books and, on a yet more entertaining note, cooking games – saw a boom in holiday searches. Books in general also ranked highly, as did fashion, electronics, and tea.

This list is a fair deal different than what was seen stateside, at least on Google searches, where the primary search trends focused on flowers (including flower delivery on Mother’s Day itself, for those chronic procrastinators), poems, crafts, personalized gifts, and brunch. What did you get your mom for Mother’s Day? Did your buys look more like the Australian Bing list or the U.S. Google roundup?
