Yahoo! & Future of Search Marketing- FOOA Presentation

The Future of Online Advertising conference was held last week. If I had to summarize the information given by 11 speakers, I’d have to write about 10 pages. So, instead I’ll begin with my first summary on Ron Belanger’s (VP, Agency Development of Yahoo!) presentation. The future of search marketing is in understanding the consumer 2.0. What does this mean? As the internet has changed to become what it is today,...

The most popular in order was LinkedIn, Yahoo360, and Myspace. Some of the stats collected by I4CP are as follows: “About half (52%) of respondents whose organizations are using social networking sites do so to keep internal staff and...

Yahoo Rolls Out Quality-Based Pricing on Content Network Ads

In an effort to improve pricing bids for advertisers on Yahoo’s content network, Yahoo launched its new quality based pricing. If you’ve done PPC with Yahoo! Search Marketing and opted into their content network, you’ve probably seen a tremendous amount of clicks within the hour of launching your campaign. I think Yahoo’s content network has gotten the rep to get you traffic, but low conversion rates. Yahoo states in an email sent to all advertisers,...

How Smart Do You Have To Be To Work For Google?

It’s Friday and thought to put a fun blog post up. I stumbled upon some questions which were published by Google as a recruiting tool. Now, I’m not sure how old/new these questions are that were published, but most likely still used. Answers are provided in Bold. 1) Solve this cryptic equation, realizing of course that value for M and E could be interchanged. No leading zeros are allowed: WWWDOT - GOOGLE = DOTCOM Answers: 777589 -...

Yahoo Answers : Brand & Link Building via Social Media

One of the main things I do to run successful campaigns online is always look offline. As I was watching television tonight, a Yahoo! Yahoo recently announced a new mission statement, which is to “connect people”. That’s exactly what we’re seeing with Yahoo...

Are Social Powered Search Engines The Future Of Search?

Over the years, the engines have developed algorithms to make search as relevant as possible to the user. In the early 90’s, optimizing your website didn’t take the time and work as it does now. It also wasn’t that long ago at all where you can bid for almost any keyword and show up in the results until Google implemented the Quality Score to the engines algorithm to also make that part of search more...

Many in the search marketing industry preach about moving on to other 2nd tier engines with Google’s high cost per keyword (in competitive industries) and strict quality score regulations. Moving on to...
