AOL & Blinkx Search Partnership
Last week when AOL announced its relationship with Blinkx I thought, “Why are they partnering with Blinkx given Truveo and SingingFish?” It appeared to be some sort of implied statement regarding potential limitations of those engines in the video search context.
However, AOL subsequently clarified with me that the Blinkx relationship is about Blinkx’s specific vertical search capabilities and not about video per se for its “Study Buddy” homework site for kids:
“Powered by technology partner blinkx, StudyBuddy.com’s unique search functionality also organizes results by media type to best meet assignment source requirements.”
Here’s the release.
