Yahoo Sues MForma & Past Employees for Stealing Mobile Game Secrets

Yahoo Sues MForma & Past Employees for Stealing Mobile Game Secrets

Today Yahoo sued seven former employees who alledgedly stole Yahoo company secrets when they left Yahoo for mobile games company MForma Group, a privately held company with about $100 million in annual revenue. Yahoo is also suing MForma Group and said it will seek an injunction today in Santa Clara Country Superior Court to prevent the former employees and MForma from using its technology.

Reggie Davis, Yahoo associate general counsel, told Mercury News that there is “Extensive evidence of wholesale theft.” Davis added that the lawsuit “was something we felt compelled to do in order to stop the theft and make sure our secrets were not misappropriated.”

Mercury News reports :

MForma President Jonathan Sacks, who denied the allegations, said the suit was an attempt to pressure Yahoo employees from leaving the company for other professional opportunities.

In the suit, Yahoo alleges that a former manager copied Yahoo trade secrets when he left to join MForma. He then allegedly recruited another manager, who Yahoo says provided MForma with confidential information.
