Google Confirms Acquisition of GrandCentral

grandcentralgoog.jpgAnd so the rumor came to a reality. Google officially announced that it has acquired telephone management company, GrandCentral. Wesley Chan, Google Product Manager explains briefly why Google bought the company:

We think GrandCentral’s technology fits well into Google’s efforts to provide services that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users.

And here are some of the features of GrandCentral; a telephone services company:

  • one central telephone number tied up to your other phone numbers (office, residential or mobile),
  • one central voice mailbox for all your telephone numbers,
  • listen to your voice messages from your phone while the message is being recorded,
  • switch a call from your cell to your work phone and back to your cell again.

Greg covered this development while it was still being rumored to happen, and he has some pretty interesting “instant analysis” reactions.
