John Scott gives a rundown on the history of link buying and then 10 rules on buying links intelligently. (Yes, I do realize this is a post made in May, but I’m playing a little bit of blog catch-up this week and feel that the post is of good value.)
Google is still running link based algorithms. Google, however, wants to count links which were meant to be legitimate “votes” for a web page. Google does not want to count links as votes if those links were placed on a web page for monetary reward, or as spam.
Google would ideally prefer it if website owners did not buy links. Website owners, on the other hand, have an obligation to promote their sites and be responsible stewards of their investment.
Of all of the tips, which have the common theme of buying a vast mix of links, not just anchor text links, I really love this:
Buy Non-Keyword Links
One of the hardest things for the simpleton SEO to do is to buy non-keyword links. If only he could see for himself the rewards of those SEO’s who buy non-keywords links.
But of course, anybody can see those rewards. Just do a search on Google for the keyword of your choice, and then analyze the backlinks of the websites in the top ten. You’ll most likely discover that a surprising majority of those links do not contain keywords.

Link buying, overall good or bad?
It seems as there is so much contradiction on this subject that I am having a hard time with what is the right answer or what is not. I mean, of course the search engines would prefer naturally created links and that they are trying to crack down on paid links, but how long is it really going to take them to really be able to weed out a paid link and a natural link?
How are these link selling companies staying afloat if this is the inevitable future of paid links? Is it just too early yet?
Sorry for all of the open ended questions. I am just trying to wrap my head around all of this.
Thanks!
interesting point, although google’s anti link buying attitude will be interesting to measure.
For an web newbie like myself, this is truly fasinating stuff but also highlights just how confusing cyberspace can be for the uninitiated. I will be putting your advice to work and look forward to seeing results. thanks for the great articles.
I have bought links but always been reluctant to do so because of all the articles that say Goodl will penilize me for buying links. I really appercaite this article because it gives me confidence in buying links.
I don’t believe you should give google any reason to penalize your site. According to Matt google is going to start slapping websites for using this technique
Hello Loren,

Such a effective article about SEO
I have read in one of your posts about building links by commenting. I could not comment there , so I am doing it here. What is the value of links from comments. Does it carry the juice of link in the post, on the page or blog roll.
Thanks for the article and the point on the non-keyword links. I’ve always thought that was a waste.
most important thing is keyword adjustment in article coz google prefer these things.
web hosting is to key to start website on internet. So when u buy webhosting then always use best and quility website hosting company.
Great article thanks for sharing. : D
There are lot of blogs out there that offer dofollow comments and links, it’s only a matter of finding them. But once you have them make sure you only use the best ones. It has brought countless new documents to searchers that were never available before now.

Take advantage of your staff : Your company has a staff of experts on hand. As part of their daily ritual, you should have them comment on a minimum of 3 blog posts per day. Once in the morning, once after lunch, and once before leaving. This method splits up the commenting so they are not overwhelmed and this does not interfere with their daily routine. http://seo-company.name/seo_blog/
does anyone know if buying link excahge really works or is it a waste of time
I would think it would be better have links from many different types of sources and not only comments so I would think yes, but include the above suggestion in addition to your linking campaign. For example we attempt to get linked from many mortgage broker related sites at http://www.mortgage-2.co.uk
Social bookmarking is best for SEO and get good visitors which improve ranking.
Trust is a very good thing but dont take risk in every body.
I heard very negative about link buying but it is a form of advertising so I am not sure how they can detect if I want to say buy a link on your page? Can someone clarify.
Thanks,
Brian P
Interesting. It sounds like a real tragedy of the commons problem.
What is the way for social bookmarking ?
Cool and interesting article. The thing I was looking for.
thank you for sharing good page
If you can get links without pay so what is the need to pay them. Just there is need smart work to get good links without pay.
Good post. I think as long as it comprises a small percentage of your link building plan, the purchase/rental of links should be fine. Assuming of course you stay relevant to your content and be sure you know and trust the seller.
I am new to SEO and I just wish there was a set road map; do x, y and z and get x-number or visitors. Your article is helpful as well as many of these comments.
Thanks for post. It’s really imformative stuff.
I really like to read.Hope to learn a lot and have a nice experience here! my best regards guys!

For me personally blogging is a joy. I look forward to my time in the website because not only am I the blogger, but I’m also a programmer. I learn from those I like because their experience is different than mine and often they will have an insight into something that I had never considered.
Very well written. This is the kind of information that is useful to those want to increase their SERP’s. Keep up the good work.
