“Elite Retreat” with the “SEO Whack Pack”

Elite Retreat is the name of a mini SEO conference for a small number of handpicked people that register for the opportunity to meet Jeremy Shoemaker aka Shoemoney and his sister Andrea (co-host of Shoemie’s WebmasterRadio.fm Show “Net Income”), Aaron Wall from SEOBook.com, Lee Dodd from ForumTrends.com.

Last but not least, Dave Taylor, no, not David Naylor hehe. Dave Taylor is who was suggested as “did you mean…?” at Google when you searched for “David Naylor” until not too long time ago. I just checked and it does not seem to be the case anymore. David Naylor, co-host of the Webmasterradio.fm show “Strikepoint“, must have somehow managed to get Matt Cutt’s feel pity for him and to “fix” this little annoyance. So, okay, it is not that David I am talking about, but Dave Taylor from Intuitive.com.

The “conference” will be held in San Antonio Texas for two days, December 18 to December 19, 2006, just about a week before Christmas. 150 is about the number the 4 guys and 1 gal are aiming for. There will be plenty of small “hands-on” workshops and direct conversation with the celebrity SEOs, something that is usually not that easy to arrange at large conferences like SEO with hundreds of attendees for each session and thousands attending the whole conference.

Everybody will get a free iPod Nano full with “goodies” provided by the “SEO Whack Pack” (Roger would probably get me in trouble, if I would have used “Creative Whack Pack”). The price for the conference is not cheap so the Idea of the whole Event is to make some money for the organizers and not just the urge to hang out with some regular John Doe Webmasters and have a good time.

The conference might be something for you, if you can spare about $5,000 for the ticket to the show, plus $190 per night for the hotel, Flight and Rental Car (if you are short on bonus points/miles), without having to cancel Christmas afterwards.

What is the weather in San Antonio, TX like at the end of December? Well, I am sure it will be not as freaking cold as Boston, New York or worse, Canada. ;)

For even more dough will be VIP passes available and get you invited to a special dinner on the 12/18. The exact price tag for those is not available at this time. Registrations can be made here.

Hotel Reservations is available here, the $189 Rate is guaranteed for 12/16 – 12/21 until December 1st. . . . I know that I will not be able to go, my partners would kill me after I was already at SES San Jose, CJU and will be at Affiliate Summit 2007 in Las Vegas. I am already mad that I can’t make it to PubCon this month :(. It sounds like fun though and the guys promissed, “No Sales Pitch!”. True Education. Well, I guess we will see a blog post or two in december from some of the attendees to learn how it was.

Cheers,

  1. Thanks for the nice writeup, Carsten. Sorry you can’t join us; seems like you’d be a great addition to the discussion!

One tiny request: only my Mum calls me “David”. Can you tweak that in this article, please? :-)

  2. Hi Dave,
I changed the article, but would not worry about being called David instead of Dave.

David is the common usage of the Name Dave in Germany. I have a friend in Berlin/Germany with that name. Well, and David is the “famous” name.. David and Goliath etc. :)

Yeah, its sad that I can’t go. Would be fun, but I need to be realistic. Business is Business. It has to make financially sense for me too.

    Cheers,
    Carsten
